We have long extolled the creativity and wit displayed by the European Tour's social video team; every new clip is like receiving a present on Christmas day. One of the gems from last season featured a trio of Euro foursomes attempting to break the Guinness World Record for fastest hole in golf, with a French quartet (Raphael Jacquelin, Alex Levy, Romain Wattel, and Gregory Havret) shattering the mark. Simple in premise, yes, but nevertheless a delight to watch.

So, we present the following with a bit of reservation: this video is a blatant rip-off of said idea, with four PGA Tour rookies — Tom Lovelady, Lanto Griffin, Andrew Yun and Stephan Jaeger — trying to beat Team France at the 500-yard 17th hole at Palm Desert Country Club in California. It's not quite as entertaining as the European endeavor, although the venture proved fruitful:

Kudos to the rooks on their achievement. Let's hope this spurs a response from the Euro team involving hovercrafts, parachutes and exploding greens a la Caddyshack.
