From The Woodlands in the Houston area, Lewis has pledged to give her earnings — first place is worth $195,000 — to the relief efforts. The 11-time LPGA Tour champion also is trying to win for the first time since June 2014.

Former Buckeye Armour leads Web.com Tour Finals opener

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Former Ohio State player Ryan Armour shot a 6-under 65 on Saturday to take the third-round lead in the Web.com Tour Finals-opening Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship.

Armour had a 12-under 201 total on Ohio State’s Scarlet Course for a one-stroke lead over Keith Mitchell, the leader after each of the first two rounds.

Mitchell had a 70. He missed a PGA Tour card by a stroke last week in the Web.com Tour’s regular-season finale in Oregon.

The four-event series features the top 75 players from the Web.com regular-season money list, Nos. 126-200 in the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup standings – Armour was 159th – and non-members with enough PGA Tour money to have placed in the top 200 in the FedEx Cup had they been eligible.

McCarron also eagled the closing hole Friday at Canyon Meadows in an opening 63. On Saturday, he holed a 30-footer after teeing off with a 3-wood and hitting a 4-iron from 249 yards.
“I'm kind of a ham, so we've got huge grandstands there, everybody one's waving the towels, which is a lot of fun, makes for a great environment,” McCarron said. “I love coming up here. I love the fans. They really enjoy golf, they enjoy good golf.”

Hanson in 3-stroke lead after 2nd round of Czech Masters

VYSOKY UJEZD, Czech Republic (AP) Chris Hanson shot a 6-under-par 66 to take a three-stroke lead at the Czech Masters on Saturday at the end of a second round that was delayed by heavy rain.

Weather conditions forced the suspension of play on Friday, right after Hanson birdied his first hole.

After the round resumed on Saturday, the Englishman added six more birdies and a bogey to finish at 10-under 134 overall.

Fellow countryman Lee Slattery, who completed the second round with a 7-under 65 before play was suspended, is second, with another Englishman, James Morrison, one stroke behind Slattery in third after carding a 70.

Morrison is one shot ahead of South Africa’s Haydn Porteous, Chile’s Felipe Aguilar and Sweden’s Pontus Widegren.

The third round is scheduled to begin later Saturday.

Slattery takes 2-shot lead into final round at Czech Masters (Sep 2, 2017)

VYSOKY UJEZD, Czech Republic (AP) Lee Slattery produced a flawless 5-under 67 at the Czech Masters on Saturday for a two-shot lead over Haydn Porteous of South Africa.

The Englishman opened the third round with his first of five birdies for 12-under 204 overall.

”I hit a couple of loose shots on the front nine early on but hit great chips to follow them up and managed to salvage the pars so it kind of kept a bit of the momentum going,” said Slattery, who has won two titles on the European Tour.

Porteous also shot 67 for 10-under 206, while Sweden’s Pontus Widegren (69) is two shots further back in third.

Second-round leader Chris Hanson and fellow Englishman Jonathan Thomson are tied for fourth on 7 under. Thomson is making his European Tour debut.

Julian Suri of the United States is among a group of five players tied for sixth on 6 under.

Earlier Saturday, Hanson shot a 6-under 66 to take a three-shot lead at the end of a second round that was delayed by heavy rain.
