Slattery takes 2-shot lead into final round at Czech Masters
VYSOKY UJEZD, Czech Republic (AP) Lee Slattery produced a flawless 5-under 67 at the Czech Masters on Saturday for a two-shot lead over Haydn Porteous of South Africa.
The Englishman opened the third round with his first of five birdies for 12-under 204 overall.
”I hit a couple of loose shots on the front nine early on but hit great chips to follow them up and managed to salvage the pars so it kind of kept a bit of the momentum going,” said Slattery, who has won two titles on the European Tour.
Porteous also shot 67 for 10-under 206, while Sweden’s Pontus Widegren (69) is two shots further back in third.
Second-round leader Chris Hanson and fellow Englishman Jonathan Thomson are tied for fourth on 7 under. Thomson is making his European Tour debut.
Julian Suri of the United States is among a group of five players tied for sixth on 6 under.
Earlier Saturday, Hanson shot a 6-under 66 to take a three-shot lead at the end of a second round that was delayed by heavy rain.

Lewis tied for lead, giving winnings to hurricane relief (Sep 1, 2017)
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Stacy Lewis shot an 8-under 64 on Friday for a share of the Cambia Portland Classic lead – and a chance to make a big donation to hurricane relief in her hometown.
From The Woodlands in the Houston area, Lewis is giving her earnings this week to the relief efforts. The 11-time LPGA Tour champion also is trying to win for the first time since 2014.
”It would honestly probably be one of the most special,” Lewis said about winning. ”It would probably be up there with a major. That was the goal to start the week, was to take a big check home. That’s still the goal. Now I’m in a good spot to do that.”
Her husband, Gerrod Chadwell, is the University of Houston women’s golf coach.
Two-time defending champion Brooke Henderson and first-round leader In Gee Chun matched Lewis at 10-under 134 at tree-lined Columbia Edgewater. Henderson played a five-hole stretch in 5 under in a 67, and Chun had a 68.
Lewis made three straight birdies on Nos. 6-8 on her final nine.

Mickelson think he’s found the solution to arthritis woes
NORTON, Mass. (AP) Phil Mickelson thinks he found what has been draining him of energy and focus for most of the year. Now it’s a matter of whether it can help him start posting better scores and possibly get on a U.S. team for the 23rd consecutive time.
Mickelson, winless since his British Open title in 2013 at Muirfield, said he saw a doctor after missing the cut in the PGA Championship. It’s the same doctor who has helped him manage the psoriatic arthritis he has had since 2010.
”He seemed to have found something,” Mickelson said Friday after opening with a 2-under 69 at the Dell Technologies Championship, leaving him three shots behind Dustin Johnson. ”This is the best energy I’ve had throughout the round and the best focus. My short game has been very disappointing and I haven’t been able to visualize the shot I’ve been trying to hit.
”And today, and for probably the last few days, I’ve been able to see the shot again,” he said. ”And so it was a good day.”

On Friday at the Dell Technologies Championship, Mickelson revealed that another condition, which he declined to discuss, has been impacting his game the last few years.
“After the PGA [Championship], I went and addressed it and met with the doctor that helped me get through some of the arthritis conditions,” said Mickelson following an opening 69 at TPC Boston. “He seemed to have found something. This is the best energy I've had throughout the round and the best focus.”
