Captain Juli Inkster is making sure the conceded putt controversy of 2015 doesn’t resurface

Thomas NiedermuellerSANKT LEON-ROT, GERMANY – SEPTEMBER 20: Alison Lee of the United States is comforted by Juli Inkster the United States Team Captain (l), Nancy Lopez (2nd from left) and Wendy Ward (r) United States assistant captains on the 18th green after Lee's error in picking up her ball on the 17th hole before it had been conceded by her European Team opponents Suzann Pettersen and Charley Hull (seen in the right of the image). This error led to the European pair claiming the 17th hole and led to the United States losing another crucial point during the completion of the Saturday afternoon fourball matches in the 2015 Solheim Cup at St Leon-Rot Golf Club on September 20, 2015 in Sankt Leon-Rot, Germany. Alison Lee picked up that short putt on the 17th hole of the four-ball competition, thinking she’d been given the putt. Suzann Pettersen ..

Suzann Pettersen withdraws from Solheim Cup

Stuart FranklinWEST DES MOINES, IA – AUGUST 16: Annika Sorenstam, Team Europe Captain talks with Suzann Pettersen during practice for The Solheim Cup at the Des Moines Country Club on August 16, 2017 in West Des Moines, Iowa. (Photo by Stuart Franklin/Getty Images)On Wednesday Suzann Pettersen, whose controversial non-concession during the 2015 Solheim Cup overshadowed the event, withdrew from this year's competition, citing a slipped disc.
Pettersen, who has played in eight Solheim Cups, qualified for the European Solheim Cup squad through her Rolex World Ranking (No. 23).
“I have made this extremely difficult decision to help the European team and give my team mates the best possible chance of success,” said Pettersen. “There was no guarantee that I would be fit to compete on Friday morning and I did not want to play unless I was able to give 100 per cent. I truly love The Solheim Cup and I will stay and support my team this week in whatever way I can.”

Sang-Moon Bae completes military service, ready to return to golf

Chris Condon(Photo by Chris Condon/PGA TOUR)Two years ago, Sang-Moon Bae turned in the best season of his professional career, winning the Frys.com Open, accumulating nearly $2.6 million in earnings and competing for the International Team at the Presidents Cup, held in his native country of South Korea. Unfortunately for Bae, his homeland requires all males 18-to-35 to complete a two-year military commitment. After losing a court battle seeking a wavier, Bae was forced to set aside the sport for service.
However, on Wednesday Bae officially completed his duty as a rifleman in the army, and is making his return to golf at next month's Shinhan Donghae Open, an event co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Korean PGA.
“Even though I didn't get to play much, I grew to love golf even more,” the 31-year-old Bae said in a statement. He also mentioned he was able to keep in shape with weight-lifting and cardio workouts.
Though Bae and his team have not constructed a plan for the PGA Tou..

Why Brooks Koepka was the king of the majors in 2017

Streeter Lecka/Getty ImagesBrooks Koepka poses with the winner's trophy after his victory at the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills. We all know Brooks Koepka became a major champion in 2017 with his impressive U.S. Open win at Erin Hills. But Brooks' breakout season was even better than you probably realized, because he earned another — albeit unofficial title: King of the Majors.
Koepka wound up with the low cumulative score in golf's four major championships this year, shooting a combined 21 under while needing 1,119 strokes. And yes, he did most of his damage at Erin Hills where he was 16 under.

Koepka was one of only 13 players to make the cut in all four majors and he edged Hideki Matsuyama and Matt Kuchar by a single shot for this important distinction. Of course, the fact that he won a major while those other two remained winless despite close calls (Matsuyama at the U.S. Open and PGA Championship, Kuch..

Players on the FedEx Cup bubble as tour enter’s regular-season finale

Stacy Revere(Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images)Justin Thomas' brilliant Sunday charge at Quail Hollow continues to be the talk of the sport, and rightfully so. Nevertheless, there are other matters to attend to; chiefly, the tour's regular-season finale in Greensboro, the Wyndham Championship. Though it sits in the Wanamaker Trophy's shadow and lacks the gravitas of most rank-and-file events, it means a helluva lot to a host of players, as this week's competition at Sedgefield CC is the last chance to gain entry into the FedEx Cup and, more importantly, earn their card for next season.
The top 125 are given these exclusive invites, while those unable to cross the threshold (who don't already have exemption status) face a trip to the Web.com Tour Finals to secure tour entry for 2017-18. Here are the souls currently sweating out the FedEx Cup bubble this week in North Carolina:
No. 114 — Nick Watney
Watney, who once reached as high as ninth in the world ranking..

From a hole-in-one to an 11?! Another PGA championship produced the craziest scorecard you’ll ever see

The 99th PGA Championship produced its share of big numbers thanks in large part to Quail Hollow's “Green Mile” closing stretch (Hello, Jason Day). But that was nothing compared to what happened at another recent PGA tournament.

The week before, England's Coxmoore Golf Club proved to be a stern test as the host of the Galvin Green PGA Assistants' Championship. Matthew Fieldsend won the event with a one-under total for three rounds, but it was the mind-boggling scorecard of someone who missed the cut, Oliver Smith, that caught our eye after being shared by European Tour pro Eddie Pepperell.

Let's take a closer look at what might be the craziest scorecard in golf history:
FacebookPinterestAs you can see, Smith started with a 9 on a par 4. That's not good. But incredibly, after a string of five birdies in seven holes, he got to one under ..
