2017 Wyndham Championship tee times, viewer’s guide

Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty ImagesThe PGA Tour is in Greensboro, North Carolina this week for the Wyndham Championship, the final stop before the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Playing host is Sedgefield Country Club, the only Donald Ross design that hosts a regular PGA Tour event besides the TOUR Championship, held at East Lake Golf Club.
It's the last chance for players on the bubble of the FedEx Cup top 125 to jockey for position and earn a spot in the Northern Trust next week. Names currently hovering on that bubble that are in this week's field include 2006 U.S. Open champ Geoff Ogilvy (125th), 2010 U.S. Open champ Graeme McDowell (131st) and three-time PGA Tour winner Ryan Palmer (128th).
Henrik Stenson is the only player in the field ranked inside the top-10 in the world, but names like Kevin Kisner, Davis Love III, Webb Simpson, Jason Dufner and Billy Horschel are also in Greensboro this week. Defending champion Si Woo Kim is not in the field.

Chris GraythenThe final major championship of 2017 has come and gone, but there's still plenty to play for in fantasy golf and for real starting at this week's Wyndham Championship. FedEx Cup Playoff spots are on the line, Presidents Cup slots are up for grabs, and then there's that whole matter of settling the PGA Tour Player of the Year Award. To wrap up Justin Thomas' breakthrough at the PGA Championship, make our Wyndham picks, and talk about an embarrassing on-course fail at Quail Hollow, Joel Beall joined me for our weekly chat. Kevin Kisner: Going three over par over the final three holes wasn't the finish the Kiz wanted at Quail Hollow, but how could you not be impressed by his performance at the PGA? Kisner nearly went wire-to-wire at a major, handled himself well playing in the..

Titleist fires back with 284-page countersuit against Costco ball

If you thought that lawsuit over the cult favorite Kirkland Signature golf ball sold at Costco and Acushnet, the parent of the game’s top-selling golf balls under the Titleist brand name, was withering away into oblivion, think again.
Nearly five months after Costco, the U.S.’s largest membership-only warehouse club, filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court seeking a declaratory judgment that its ball was not infringing on any Acushnet patents, Acushnet responded with a blanket denial of any and all Costco’s claims. Then, it returned the favor with a 284-page countersuit, alleging that the Kirkland Signature ball not only infringes on 10 Acushnet-owned patents having to do with golf ball core and internal construction and dimple patterns, but that the Kirkland Signature guarantee amounts to false advertising.
The Kirkland Signature guarantee, which applies to a wide array of products offered by Costco under its Kirkland Signature house brand, states that these private label products “mus..

Hayden Wood, son of former PGA Tour player Willie Wood, set a U.S. Amateur scoring record in taking medalist honors at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Wood, whose father is a former U.S. Junior Amateur champion, completed 36 holes at nine-under par 131, a 36-hole qualifying record, eclipsing the record of 132, set by Hank Kim at the TPC Sawgrass in 1994. Wood followed an opening-round 64 at Riviera Country Club on Monday with a three-under 67 at Bel-Air on Tuesday. He finished three strokes ahead of runner-up, Norman Xiong, the recent Western Amateur winner.
Wood is a junior at Oklahoma State, the university his father also attended.
Xiong, who like Wood opened with a six-under 64 at Riviera on Monday, shot an even-par 70 at Bel-Air.
Among those advancing to match play that..
