Six weeks after Sergio Garcia won the Masters, PGA Tour veteran Chris Stroud saw the Spaniard at the AT&T Byron Nelson and congratulated him on a long overdue first career major championship.
Garcia’s response?
“He said just, ‘Take it easy,’” Stroud recalled Sunday night. “It will come to you.”
Sunday, it finally did for the 35-year-old journeyman. After 290 starts, Stroud picked up his first PGA Tour victory at Montreux Golf and Country Club, where he emerged from a three-man playoff to win the Barracuda Championship.
“It's been a long time,” said Stroud, who made three birdies and an eagle over his final five holes of regulation in the Modified Stableford format, then had to wait out a weather delay and the conclusion of the rest of the tournament to see..

It was a victory that began to take shape on Saturday for Paul Goydos, who had the low score on the lowest scoring day in PGA Tour Champions history, a 12-under par 60. Anything more than that and he likely wouldn’t have been the last man standing on Sunday.
Goydos’ tap-in birdie on the first playoff hole, the par-5 18th at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn., on Sunday gave him a victory over Gene Sauers in the 3M Championship. It was Goydos’ first victory of the year and fifth of his senior career.
“I putted well the last 45 holes,” Goydos said. “I putted as well as I probably could. Today I hit some squirrelly shots, but hung in there and hung in there and hung in there.”
In Saturday’s round, Goydos made 10 birdies and an eagle, helping bring down the scoring average for the day to..

(Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)Four years ago at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Hideki Matsuyama was paired with Tiger Woods for the opening two rounds. Just 21 at the time, he watched Woods tie the Firestone course record in the second round, which helped him go on to win the tournament for an eighth time. On Sunday, Matsuyama channeled his inner-Tiger, posting a bogey-free nine-under 61 to match the course record and win his second world golf championship with a score of 16-under 264.
Matsuyama, 25, entered the final round two shots back of leaders Zach Johnson and Thomas Pieters, but immediately closed that gap with a chip-in eagle on the par-5 second hole. The world No. 3 added three more birdies on the front to turn in five-under 30…

AKRON, Ohio – When Jordan Spieth missed his birdie putt on the first hole at Firestone CC Sunday afternoon, John Wood, who caddies for Matt Kuchar, couldn’t contain himself walking down the second fairway, turning to Spieth’s caddie Michael Greller and asking playfully, “Where was that two weeks ago?”
Spieth and Kuchar, the main protagonists in the British Open at Royal Birkdale won by Spieth after a breathtaking scoring run down the stretch, were paired together in Sunday’s final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. The stakes weren’t quite as high as they began the day well behind 54-hole co-leaders Zach Johnson and Thomas Pieters.
It was the second time in as many years the two were paired together the last day at Firestone, and each man carded a two-under 68, with Spiet..
