At the time of his death, Shey had his own consulting company; his LinkedIn profile states a previous consulting venture ended last year. In a 2013 Golf Digest article on David, Shey was working at a trucking company. He was living in Texas at the time of his passing.

Golf Digest Podcast: Terry Jastrow on his new book and his remarkable career in golf television

When you sit down to watch golf this weekend, consider some of the features you probably have taken for granted. Hand-held cameras following players at eye level. A walking course reporter sharing club selection and offering insight into the action. To a great extent, they both can be traced to Terry Jastrow, the longtime producer of ABC's golf telecasts who oversaw the broadcast of 60 major championships with the network.
FacebookPinterestJastrow's remarkable career has also seen him branch into acting, playwriting, and directing (including the 2015 golf film, “The Squeeze) and now includes a new book, “The Trial Of Prisoner 043,” that takes on the fairly weighty topic of former President George W. Bush's role in pushing the U.S. into war in Iraq. Fittingly, the book has a small but important golf presence.

Rory McIlroy tabs friend to caddie at PGA Championship, WGC-Bridgestone

Matthew Lewis/R&A(Photo by Matthew Lewis/R&A/R&A via Getty Images)Rory McIlroy parted ways with longtime caddie J.P. Fitzgerald on Monday, a week after the pair finished T-4 at Royal Birkdale. The four-time major winner has not announced his new loop, but we do have an idea on the short-term replacement.
According to the Telegraph, McIlroy has tabbed friend and businessman Harry Diamond to be on the bag this week in Akron at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Diamond is also expected to be with McIlroy at next week's PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. While sources say it's a temporary move, others have speculated the pairing could last longer depending on the performance of the next two weeks.
Diamond is a childhood friend of McIlroy's, playing on the same Ulster youth team and going on to represent the Irish senior team. He was reportedly McIlroy's best man at his recent wedding.
