We’re sorry, but donating 60 million anonymous dollars to Binghamton University baseball is just sick

The year is 2020 and the feel-good-story reserves are running perilously low. Good deeds have become mythological creatures. Generosity a folk tale passed from tribe to tribe, generation to generation. Happiness is a vestige of a bygone era that your grandparents barely even remember. So it brings us no pleasure to say this—no really, we're miserable—but said it has to be: Whoever just anonymously gifted Binghamton University baseball $60 MILLION DOLLARS for a new stadium, is a sick, sick son of a bitch.

Listen, we love baseball as much as the next red-blooded American idiot, but this is out-of-touch to the point of unhinged. This is worse than Jeff Bezos buying yachts worth more than the GNP of Latvia. THIS IS BINGHAMTON BASEBALL ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Here's a list of things that could use $60 million a hell of a lot more than this blood diamond dealer's beloved Bearcats:
Cancer research

Tiger Woods roasting his Celebrity Cup team’s swings is 100 times more entertaining than the Oscars

It's been a hectic couple days in the wild world of celebrity golf. Just about the same time Larry Fitzgerald was wrapping up another Pebble Beach Pro-Am title on Sunday, Hollywood's biggest stars were assembling on the red carpet for the 92nd Academy Awards just a couple of hours south. In attendance? Ray Romano, who played 54 holes up the coast before jetting down to present. But there's no rest for the wicked . . . famous, that is, who assembled once more at Riviera Country Club on Monday for the Genesis Invitational Celebrity Cup.

Pitting Team Woods vs. Team Watson in a knockdown, drag-out no-holds-barred battle for celebrity golf supremacy friendly seven-on-seven competition, the 2020 Celebrity Cup still hung in the balance when Michael Pena drained an eight-footer on 18 to claim the title for Tiger's black-clad ballers. It was Woods' second consecutive victory in the competition, driven in large part by his tough-love coaching sty..

T.J. Oshie’s daughter asks for a goal. T.J. Oshie delivers. Hearts melt everywhere

You could argue that there is not a more universally-loved athlete than Washington Capitals winger T.J. Oshie, and the only pushback you'd get is from people who don't follow hockey and have never heard of him. And even those people might still remember him as the American hero who scored four shootout goals to beat Russia in the 2014 Olympics.
All Oshie has done since then to endear himself to fans is funnel beers at the American Century Championship, wear a beer helmet at the American Century Championship and chug beers through his shirt during the Capitals Stanley Cup parade. Slugging brews makes you an instant fan favorite. Oshie knows how to play to his base.
More importantly, he's an all-time family man. Oshie and his wife Lauren are must-follows on Instagram, and their two daughters Lyla and Leni are as adorable as it gets:

Trevor Bauer drags Rob Manfred’s body through the streets over new MLB playoff proposal

Michael ReavesLet's get this out of the way right now: The MLB's new playoff proposal, which hit the interweb on Monday afternoon, is a little wacky. Maybe it's not as divisive as robo umps, starting runners on second in extras, or the Civil War, but it's still going to drive wedge between more than a few brothers before it makes its proposed debut in the fall of 2022. The idea, at least as it's being reported, is to expand the playoff field to 7 teams in each league and allow each league's top seed to PICK THEIR OWN OPPONENTS. Yes, really.

If this sounds a little too much like Baseball Bachelor to you, well, you're not alone, with the MLB's reigning outrage king Trevor Bauer taking to Twitter after the news leaked to flatten commissioner Rob Manfred with an acme steam roller. Tell us how you really feel, Trev.

Canadian tennis player sips maple syrup mid-finals match, becomes instant national hero

This week on a brand new episode of We Couldn't Make This Up if We Tried, we're thrilled to present professional tennis player Vasek Pospisil! Pospisil just wrapped up a great run at Open Sud de France in Marseille, advancing all the way to the final against Gael Monfils on Sunday. But we're not here to talk about tennis. We're here to talk about what happened between the tennis, when the Canadian-born player was spotted refueling with swigs off a maple syrup bottle during his decisive match with Monfils. Yes, this is a real thing that happened. No, we don't know why . . . besides, you know, Canada.

Maybe it's a sugar thing? Does maple syrup have electrolytes? Gatorade pancakes anyone? We have a million and one questions, but whatever the answers, this is still about as good a power move as you'll ..
