(Photo by Minas Panagiotakis/Getty Images)In the three seasons prior to 2017, Bubba Watson had won five times, amassed more than $16 million in earnings and reached as high as second in the Official World Golf Ranking. Conversely, while he's finished in the top-10 three times this season, it's not been a vintage year for the two-time Masters champion. He found a bit of form at the Open Championship last week, finishing T-27 at Birkdale in an event he's missed the cut in four times in nine tries. The lefty rode that momentum into Thursday at the RBC Canadian Open, posting a bogey-free six-under 66 at Glen Abbey Golf Course and sits just one off the lead with the first round suspended at day's end due to rain delays.

Billy Walters, gambler tied to Phil Mickelson, sentenced to prison after insider-trading conviction
BloombergBilly Walters, owner of Walters Golf, exits federal court in New York last April. Walters was convicted in the highest-profile — and most colorful — insider trading trial in yearsLas Vegas businessman and gambler William (Billy) Walters was sentenced on Thursday to five years in prison and fined $10 million for his involvement in an insider-trading case connected to Dean Foods.
Walters, 71, was convicted in April in U.S. District Court of securities fraud, conspiracy and wire fraud. Prosecutors argued that from 2008 to 2014 Walters made more than $43 million from trades of Dean Foods by realizing profits and avoiding losses thanks to information he had obtained from former company chairman Tom Davis.
Walters’ insider-trading case also involved PGA Tour pro and World Golf Hall of Famer Phil Mickelson. At the urging of Walters, Mickelson began to trade in Dean Foods stock, and made more than $931,000 in profits after buying and selling holdings between July and August 2012. Mi..

Matt Kuchar suffers dizzy spells in first round of RBC Canadian Open
Minas Panagiotakis(Photo by Minas Panagiotakis/Getty Images)Battling the letdown from Royal Birkdale was going to be an obstacle for Matt Kuchar at the RBC Canadian Open. Unfortunately for the 39-year-old, that wasn't the only issue that presented itself on Thursday.
Throughout his first round at Glen Abbey, Kuchar struggled to stay on his feet, at one point visiting an on-course medic. Speaking afterwards with reporters, Kuchar said he was experiencing faintness throughout the day.
“I had a couple of spells where I got a little bit dizzy and I felt weak. I don't know where it came from,” Kuchar said to the media. “I've had plenty of time to get over the travel. Hopefully it's just something that passes real quick.”
Kuchar said it was the first time getting hit with such a sensation, and that he was able to shake it off by the end of the round.
Amazingly, Kuchar was able to manage a one-under 71 in these conditions. He's currently six back of the leaders.
