Photos and details of what we should expect from the highly anticipated opening of Streamsong Black
One of the most highly anticipated golf-course openings in 2017 is Streamsong Resort’s Black course, which is set to open Sept. 29. Gil Hanse and his design team, one of the most sought-after among course-architecture firms, completed the design, which joins Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw's Red course and Tom Doak's Blue course, both among Golf Digest’s Second 100 Greatest, as the next course at the Florida resort.
So what should we expect from Streamsong Black? The rolling scale of the property, which will play to a par 73, is certainly unique among big-time designs (only two courses in Golf Digest's 100 Greatest and Second 100 Greatest are par 73s: Garden City Golf Club, No. 46 on our last 100 Greatest ranking and Kapalua's Plantation course, No. 112).
And most notably is the way in which Hanse, his design partner Jim Wagner and the rest of his team were inspired by the look and feel of Australian Sand Belt courses and their bunkering to incorporate similar looks in ..
Where Jordan Spieth separates himself from McIlroy & peers, Kuchar’s major supporter, and an explanation for Willett’s poor play
Sam GreenwoodThree years ago, Rory McIlroy won his fourth career major championship and third in the last nine majors with a victory at the PGA Championship at Valhalla. The only thing left to complete the career Grand Slam was a victory at the Masters. Many expected it was a foregone conclusion. It still might be, but three years later McIlroy is still waiting.
Two weeks from now at the PGA Championship, Jordan Spieth, who back then had just two career victories and only one of those on the PGA Tour, will have a chance to match McIlroy with a fourth major title and do something the 28-year-old Northern Irishman has yet to do: Complete the career Grand Slam.
“I don’t think anybody thought that he would have done what he has done since then,” said Spieth’s close friend, Ryan Palmer. “Everybody knew Jordan had the potential to be great, but I don’t think anybody would’ve predicted he would’ve won 11 times by now. It shows what we’re watching is pretty special. No one is going to be Tiger..

Hear Jordan Spieth’s caddie describe the “absolute chaos” of that crazy 13th hole at the British Open
Richard Heathcote/R&ASOUTHPORT, ENGLAND – JULY 23: Jordan Spieth of the United States and caddie Michael Greller discuss the playing line for his third shot on the 13th hole during the final round of the 146th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale on July 23, 2017 in Southport, England. (Photo by Richard Heathcote/R&A/R&A via Getty Images)Whenever the first Jordan Spieth biopic comes out, what happened on Royal Birkdale's 13th hole during the final round of the 146th British Open will feature prominently. The strange and somewhat miraculous bogey kept the young star in contention and set off a brilliant four-hole stretch that earned him a third major before his 24th birthday. How that hole played out has been discussed at length already, but this is the best account of it that we've heard so far. And not surprisingly, it came from the other half of Team Spieth.

Miraculous bounce leads to new world record for longest drive
Long-drive competitor Phillis Meti lost in the finals of last night's televised “Mile High Showdown.” But Meti left Denver with something better than a victory: a new world record.
In her semifinal match, Meti carried her tee ball 340 yards, a distance that's ho-hum in these type of events. However, it appears Meti's ball makes contact with a marker or sprinkler head, shooting the rock forward 60 yards.
The drive, finishing at 406 yards, counted as a new world record for longest women's drive.
Troy Mullins defeated Meti in the finals with a 374-yard bomb, with Meti “only” able to muster a drive of 363 yards.
