Former pitcher Dan Haren is auctioning off his bobblehead collection for charity, and you’ve gotta see this thing to believe it

David BanksLogo golf shirts. Comic books. P ofearl Jam 45s. Salt and pepper shakers shaped like giraffes. No matter who you are, you have a thing you already have enough of but keep buying more anyway—tiny, little, itty, bitty addictions that get us through rainy Tuesdays when we have a headache and just got a speeding ticket on the way to work. For former MLB pitcher Dan Haren, that (mostly) harmless vice is bobbleheads. But not just any bobbleheads; a proud 300-figure collection of MLB classics that Haren pledged to auction off in its entirety on Wednesday, with all proceeds going to help the fight of the coronavirus. We'll say this once: What. A. Guy.

Will Dustin Johnson emerge from the hiatus as the best putter on Tour? This video suggests he might

Dustin Johnson hasn't won a golf tournament in over a year, which is pretty surprising for a player who has won every season since he's been on the PGA Tour. Part of the drought is due to his knee surgery in the fall, but he's also been struggling with his short game, ranking 162nd in strokes gained/around the green and 106th in strokes gained/putting.
Like many of us, DJ's bored at home, holed up during the coronavirus pandemic. And like many of us, he's killing time with an in-home putting mat setup. His fiancee, Paulina Gretzky, posted a video to her Instagram of the couple rolling some putts with the Golf Sply Perfect Practice putting mat…and we have to say, his stroke looks pretty darn solid.

Did you know: Why does a golf course have 18 holes?

David CannonThe coronavirus pandemic has hit a giant pause button on fans being able to watch golf on TV, and in some cases, even kept people off courses. But while we hunker down and hope for a speedy return to normalcy, we can also use this time as an opportunity to learn more about the game we love. Here’s our first installment of “Did you know?”
In the beginning, there was St. Andrews. And this old course that is most appropriately named THE Old Course had 18 holes. Well, near the beginning it had 18 holes, that is. And eventually, other courses were copycats.
Those are the broad strokes of how a typical golf course came to have 18 holes. Sadly, as Snopes confirmed, the number has nothing to do with how many shots are in a bottle of Scotch—though that makes for a much more fun story.
DID YOU KNOW: How the term “birdie” came to be
In any event, if you love golf, 18 holes is great because it takes a long time to play that many. Of course, if you love someone who loves golf, it’s not ..

11 things we’re missing the most about Opening Day (sorry for reminding you it’s Opening Day)

Jonathan DanielFollowing the reports that Utaz Jazz big man Rudy Gobert had been infected with the coronavirus, every sports domino began to fall. The NBA season was suspended shortly after. NCAA basketball conference tournaments were canceled the next day, some of them mid-game. March Madness was dead. The Players Championship lasted all of one round. The NHL fell in line next. And finally, the coronavirus took away perhaps the most precious sports happening of all: MLB Opening Day.
This year's Opening Day was set to be much earlier than usual, Thursday, March 26, with all 30 teams in action. Apologies for the depressing reminder.

It goes without saying that some folks are facing much bigger problems than not being able to watch baseball right now. The MLB will be back, as will all sports. But for now, all we can do is talk about how much we miss them on another sport-less day on the calendar. Here's 11 things we&..
