Logan Riely/Atlanta BravesThe breakout star of the 2017 MLB season wasn't a player or manager, but instead a mid-inning speedster know only as The Freeze. The Freeze's skill set is obvious—pure sneaker-melting speed—and mission simple—to incinerate hapless ballpark goers in flip flops—and by the looks of things on Opening Day, he's already in mid-season form:

A security guard, member of the Braves' ground crew, and college sprinter, Nigel Talton has now stretched his 15 minutes of fame into at least half an hour, attracting the attention of one Usain Bolt with his Thusday histrionics.

Needless to say, having the world's fastest man say you're too quick him has to feel pretty cool, but we're sure it felt even better after Nick Markakis blasted a three-run walk-off homer to top th..

The only thing better than emergency goalie Scott Foster’s performance was his postgame interview
If you're a hockey fan, or follow this site, you know about the NHL's emergency goalie rule, requiring teams to have an EBUG (emergency backup goalie) in the building at each home game. We've covered a few of the funnier EBUG stories this year, like the New York Rangers “McBackup” and the St. Louis Blues vending machine worker that took shots in warmups.
But neither McBackup nor vending machine guy had to see any real action, which seems like it would be a dream come true until it actually happens and 90+ MPH clappers are being fired in your general direction. For Blackhawks emergency goalie Scott Foster, this “dream”/worst case scenario was realized on Thursday night, when Chicago's starter Anton Forsberg was scratched before the game and backup Collin Delia was injured late in the third period. Foster, a 36-year-old accountant, was immediately thrown into the fire against the Winnipeg Jets, and he did a damn good job of goaltending, saving all seven shots he faced..
Let’s recap the wildest Opening Day…maybe ever
Miami HeraldBaseball is back and, judging by what we saw on Thursday, quite possibly better than ever. So if you, contributing member of the American workforce, missed any of the ridiculous October-in-April highlights, don't worry, we're here to help, breaking down the biggest moments from the first best (and best first?) day in baseball.

Only change for Garcia is status as Masters champion
Sergio Garcia is the Masters champion, and he says nothing has changed.
That’s not entirely true.
He returns to Augusta National as a husband, having married Angela Akins last summer. He will have a slightly larger entourage with him, most notably a daughter born three weeks ago who will always remind him of the Masters, its beauty and his resiliency. They named her Azalea.

And he has Tuesday night plans unlike any other as host of the Champions Dinner.
But that’s it.
He’ll swear by that.
”I feel very proud for being able to win a major, and to win the Masters on top of that,” Garcia said. ”But you know, like what they all tell me: `Has it changed your life?’ I don’t think and I don’t feel like it has. I’m still doing the same things. … It’s something that until it happens, you don’t know what it’s going to feel like and what it’s going to do to you. But on my regard, I’m happy that I don’t feel it has changed me. I don’t feel like I’m better than I w..

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) Lexi Thompson is smiling and having fun again at the ANA Inspiration.
A year after a rules violation cost her four strokes in regulation in an eventual playoff loss, Thompson shot a 4-under 68 on Thursday to finish three strokes behind leader Pernilla Lindberg.

Thompson also again overpowered Michelle Wie on a hot afternoon at Mission Hills, four years after routing her in a final-round showdown for her first major title.
Wie fought dizzy spells on the front nine in a 75 that left her in danger of missing the cut.
”I had the mad spins,” Wie said. ”I just got really dizzy. I don’t know why or how. I don’t know.”
Wearing a black dress in the mid-90s heat, she birdied the second hole, then dropped five strokes in four holes with two double bogeys and a bogey.

Ryder rolling at rain-delayed Houston Open
HUMBLE, Texas (AP) PGA Tour rookie Sam Ryder played just enough golf Thursday to get his name atop the leaderboard in the Houston Open.
Ryder holed an 8-foot birdie putt on the 15th hole to reach 8-under par before it was too dark to continue. The opening round was delayed two hours because of overnight rain that dumped more than 2 inches on the Golf Club of Houston.
But it was partly cloudy, warm and breezy for most of the day, with a forecast for more of the same through the weekend.
