Australian hero sabotages speed trap while wearing beer box as a mask

It's been a wild week in Australia, which is to say it's been a week in Australia. On the heels of the country's first-ever mullet festival, footage has now surfaced of a local hero attempting to sabotage a police speed trap in broad daylight wearing only a beer box as a disguise. There is truly no limit to what humanity can accomplish:

Known to locals only as “Demerit Man” for reasons lost in colloquial translation, this modern day Clyde Barrow has become a viral sensation, capturing the hearts and minds of Aussies up and down the Gold Coast who obviously and immediately took to Twitter to spread word of this legend.

Louis de Jager leads Tshwane Open by 1 in South Africa

PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) Louis de Jager’s strong finish gave him a one-shot lead after the first round of the Tshwane Open in South Africa on Thursday.

De Jager birdied three of his last four holes for a 7-under 64 to move just ahead of fellow South African Thomas Aiken, Julian Suri of the United States, and Felipe Aguilar of Chile.

De Jager hasn’t won a European Tour event but his best result came at this event in 2013, when he tied for third.

Starting on No. 9, de Jager had two good runs at Pretoria Country Club. He finished his opening nine with three straight birdies before picking up another three as he came home.

No one is going to the Big Ten Tournament that’s being played nowhere near the Big Ten

Abbie ParrMost humans have a very hard time feeling sorry for scalpers. I don’t want to say they represent the sticky, oozing bottom rung of our crumbling socioeconomic network, because there are still morning FM-radio DJs, according to that day my car’s USB cord stopped working. (Not to worry — I fetched some CDs from the attic and loaded up the Odyssey. #neveragain). I am also told there are people who elect to work for Mel Gibson. But scalpers are well down there in the basement, and if you have some question about this dial up Ticketmaster’s “Verified Reseller” listings about 40 minutes after a Timberlake on-sale and watch the filthy underbelly of humanity slither all over your pixels. (“Are you looking for $90 tickets? Our Russian-built network of evil AI and swarthy goons will be happy to get you those for $595.”)
Yet after reading about attendance at this week’s Big Ten Tournament, being held in the picturesque Midwestern enclave of Manhattan, you have to feel bad for scalpers, ..

One of the world’s best golfers just bought a saxophone to use as an “escape”

Stanley ChouKUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – FEBRUARY 03: Dylan Frittelli of South Africa in action during day three of the 2018 Maybank Championship Malaysia. For a second time this week, the European Tour has provided golf fans with a delightful player diary. On Monday, Eddie Pepperell penned some candid — and hilarious — thoughts following his maiden victory at the Qatar Masters. And on Wednesday, it was Dylan Frittelli's turn to share insights into his life through the tour's website.
Frittelli has emerged as one of the world's best golfers in the past couple years. With two European Tour wins, this former teammate of Jordan Spieth at the University of Texas has climbed to 44th in the Official World Golf Ranking. And apparently, he's picking up something from his past to help him unwind when he's off the course.
“I do enjoy to stimulate my mind in different ways; sport, academia and culture as well,” Frittelli writes. “I like anything that keeps my mind going. I’v..

The Indiana Pacers got roasted for a stat comparing Thaddeus Young to four NBA legends

Magic. Bird. Michael. LeBron. Thaddeus?
On Wednesday night, the Indiana Pacers tweeted out a curious stat that managed to group Thaddeus Young (Yes, Thaddeus Young) with four of the NBA's all-time greatest players. Not surprisingly, the team got absolutely roasted for their efforts. First, because we know even the most hardcore basketball fans would have no clue how Young could possibly be linked to these legends, here's the tweet:
https://twitter.com/fsindiana/status/969012390158262272
OK then. . .
Granted, we live in an age of somewhat contrived statistics. On Tuesday, LeBron James(one of those fortunate four to be grouped with Thaddeus Young) became both the oldest player to average a triple-double over an entire month and the first player in NBA history to reach career totals of 30,000 points, 8,000 assists and 8,000 rebounds. While many were amazed by those accomplishments, many scoffed at their particular importance. Regardless, it's not hard to see those are a hec..

James Harden made the most disrespectful play in NBA history — and we can’t stop watching

As a Wake Forest graduate, Randolph Childress will forever be the Godfather of the crossover-that-makes-someone-fall-and-then-you-look-at-them-before-making-a-shot move. Childress famously pulled off the trick against UNC's Jeff McInnis during the Deacs’ run to the 1995 ACC Tournament title, adding a little wave at McInnis for good measure.
The move has been replicated throughout the years by many, but no one has quite pulled it off to the degree with which James Harden did on Wednesday night. The Houston Rockets star took this disrespectful — yet, wonderful — play to new heights on Wednesday night at the expense of Wesley Johnson. Poor, poor Wesley Johnson. Check it out:

Three things other than the obvious brilliant move, the made three-pointer and the obligatory bench reaction make this play stand out.
The distance between Harden and Johnson after Johnson takes a tumble. You could shoot a free throw between them.

Song leads Women’s World Championship by 2 shots

SINGAPORE (AP) Jennifer Song shot an opening 7-under 65 to take a two-stroke lead at the Women’s World Championship on Thursday.

The 28-year-old American reeled off seven birdies at the Sentosa Golf Club in a round that was interrupted for two hours by lightning.

Michelle Wie and Ji Eun-Hee (both 67) were tied for second while another nine players finished a further stroke back at 4 under.

Top-ranked Shanshan Feng (70) bogeyed the last hole, while No. 2 Lexi Thompson (75) struggled in making five bogeys.

Still chasing her first LPGA win eight years after turning professional, Song took the outright lead when she made five birdies in an eight-hole stretch.

”At times it has been a great struggle because I know I can win out here, but I just never have been given that chance yet,” Song said. ”But I kept believing that someday it will happen. I think that’s the reason why myself and other golfers are still grinding because we believe that we can win out he..

Shubhankar Sharma on a fast track from India

MEXICO CITY (AP) Each month brings a bigger stage and a new level of pedigree for Shubhankar Sharma.

He arrived in Mexico City for his first World Golf Championship at No. 75 in the world, making Sharma, at age 21, the highest-ranked player from India.

That’s not what made him eligible to compete against Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Jordan Spieth and the world’s best players for a $10 million prize fund. Sharma is the only two-time winner on the European Tour this season. He is leading the Race to Dubai.

Article continues below …

And he hopes he is just getting started.

”I don’t want to dwell on the past,” Sharma said. ”I still have so many things to do to get to the PGA Tour, and that’s what I want to do.”

And to think Sharma might never have seen a golf course except for the most unusual coincidence.

Sharma and Anirban Lahiri – the player he replaced as India’s No. 1 – are both Army brats. Retired Col. Mohan Sharma was stationed at the same post as Lahiri’s father, a gynecologi..
