This compilation of Phil Mickelson recovery clips is wildly entertaining

Phil Mickelson didn't win the first edition of the WGC-Mexico Championship last year, but he produced one of the most thrilling T-7 finishes in golf history. And that's not sarcasm.
Throughout his career, Mickelson has been known to find interesting spots on golf courses, but even he seemed like he couldn't believe the places he put himself in at Club de Golf Chapultepec. To steal a line from colleague Joel Beall, Mickelson did more exploring of Mexico than Coronado. And only his remarkable recovery skills kept him anywhere near the leader board.

In case you missed the Mickelson magical mystery tour in Mexico last year — or you just want to see them again (you should) — the PGA Tour has put together a wildly entertaining compilation of some of his best escapes from the week. Enjoy:

Lonzo Ball loses to Bow Wow in “shooting contest”, if that’s what you can call it

Of all the unfair things that Lonzo Ball receives criticism for (hmmm, what could I be thinking of), his ghastly shooting stroke is NOT one of them. That jump shot is worthy of all of the hate, and it's nothing short of miraculous that he was drafted second overall despite it. Watching it is like seeing and hearing nails on a chalkboard, only the nails are yours, and the chalkboard is actually barbed wire and oh my god your hands are bleeding everywhere GOOD LORD SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE.
Ok, it's not that bad, but it's pretty damn ugly, and this video of Lonzo facing rapper Bow Wow in a “shooting contest” isn't going to help his cause. Check out the footage, tweeted out by Shad Moss himself (Warning – Language):

Many folks around the internet are calling this a “shooting contest”, and yes, I understand we are doing the same in this headline, but if hitting two shots to Lonzo's one is a victory in said “shoot..

Australia’s first-ever mullet festival makes Jaromir Jagr look clean cut

Business in the front, party in the back, magic Down Under. This is the guiding principle of Australia's first-ever mullet festival, Mulletfest, which went down this past weekend in the un-air-conditioned beer garden of the Chelmsford Hotel in downtown Kurri Kurri (if there is such a thing as “downtown” in a non-descript mining town about 95 miles north of Sydney). A gathering of more than 150 mulleted maniacs, Mulletfest was one part beauty pageant, one part AC/DC tribute band gig, and perhaps the single greatest spectacle Australia has ever given the world (suck it, Great Barrier Reef). TO THE MULLETS:

Skip Bayless tried to make an idiotic Anthony Davis take, but the Pelicans were having none of it

Jonathan Bachman(Photo by Jonathan Bachman/Getty Images)Skip Bayless is an idiot. We've already established that. You could dedicate a daily post to the nonsense he spews, although frankly, the Internet is not big enough to hold that amount of garbage. Moreover, Bayless has made a living being a troll; giving him a spotlight plays into his game.
Conversely, every now and then, his takes can be so perverse they need to be taken to the woodshed. A chore the New Orleans Pelicans gladly handled on Tuesday.
For those not following the NBA, the Pelicans' Anthony Davis has been en fuego, averaging 41.5 points and 15 rebounds over his last six games. A performance that has kept his team afloat despite the loss of All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins, and vaulted him into MVP consideration.
At least in the minds of most reasonable observers. Bayless, however, is far from that, evidenced by this comment:

LPGA rookie jumps at chance to ease Puerto Rico’s recovery

MEXICO CITY (AP) Emma Talley has never been to Puerto Rico and probably couldn’t name any of winners in 10 years of the Puerto Rico Open. But she’s aware of the plight of Puerto Ricans still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Maria, and the LPGA Tour rookie jumped at the chance to help.

Talley is among 19 players from the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour who are taking part in the Puerto Rico Open Charity Pro-Am this weekend that aims to raise $500,000 to help with recovery efforts.

The Puerto Rico Open, scheduled for this week, cannot be played as the island works toward recovery.

”Our hope is that this special event in 2018 will benefit Puerto Rico’s recovery efforts to the fullest extent, while reminding the world that Puerto Rico is a premier golf and travel destination,” PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said.

Among the PGA Tour players taking part are defending champion D.A. Points and two other past champions, George McNeill and Derek Lamely. Tal..

Barbra Streisand cloned her dog — and the Internet is freaking out

I have a soft spot in my heart for Barbra Streisand because I was raised by two parents who probably rank the legendary singer just behind Abraham Lincoln on a list of the most important people in U.S. history. So when I saw her name trending on Twitter on Tuesday, I feared the worst: Making a sad phone call to my parents to inform them of the devastating news they'd read in the paper the next day. But fortunately, Barbra Streisand is alive and well. She was just in the news for having her dead dog cloned. Twice. Yep.
RELATED: “Puppy Bowl” players are now on. . . Tinder?
In a new Variety profile, Streisand broke this bit of news that had everyone on the Internet freaking out:
Along with her husband of 20 years, James Brolin, there’s no one she enjoys sharing her residence with more than her three Coton de Tulear dogs. Perhaps her biggest reveal: Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett were cloned from cells taken from the mouth and stomach of her beloved 14-year-old dog Samantha, who died i..

Mobster on house arrest sneaks out for a slice, gets sent to prison

NurPhotoI've lived in New York City for going on seven years and I've never once been to Staten Island, partly because you have to take a boat (or a car, which is even less practical than a boat) and partly because Law & Order tells me its mostly populated by people like John “Porky” Zancocchio, the 60-year-old consigliere of the Bonnano crime family who has been spending his golden years on house arrest following a racketeering conviction in January.
Porky loves twisting arms and bleeding local business owners dry. He loves his family and threatening to kill said family if they ever cross him. Perhaps more than anything else, however, Porky—co-owner of Bella Mama Rosa family restaurant/money laundering front—loves food. Sweet or savory. Red sauce or white. It doesn't much matter to Porky, and, according to SI Live, that's exactly why he's headed back to prison.
FacebookPinterestOn the weekend of February 9th, Porky requested and received permission to attend h..

NBA player on his autobiography: “I didn’t write it…I can barely read”

Rocky Widner(Photo by Rocky Widner/NBAE via Getty Images)When a celebrity pens their autobiography, a ghost writer is usually brought in to make the prose coherent. In some instances, they might ghostwrite a fair amount of the material. Or, in the case of Steven Adams, they pen the entire damn book.
Adams, the center for the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder, has an autobiography coming out later this year, and on Monday was asked about the forthcoming epic. The 24-year-old didn't exactly give it a ringing endorsement: “It’s about myself…that’s pretty much it.” He continued the book wasn't even his idea, clearly not wanting to discuss the matter further.
One problem: the surrounding media — pesky group, that media — was missing this cue and prodded Adams further. To which the New Zealand big man replied, “I don’t write…I can barely read, mate. I’m gonna write a book? Jesus.”
Oh. Never has Demetri Martin's joke — “Whenever I see an autobiography for sale in the book..

5 female golfers to take part in men’s European Tour event

VIRGINIA WATER, England (AP) Five female golfers will compete in a men’s European Tour event in May as part of more innovations to the GolfSixes tournament.

Suzann Pettersen and Mel Reid will form a European Women’s team and Georgia Hall and Charley Hull will combine for an England Women’s team in the six-hole match-play tournament at Centurion Club, England, on May 5-6.

In another team, Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn will join forces with Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew.

Article continues below …

”It is hugely important to try and break down the barriers that have existed in golf between the men’s and women’s games,” Bjorn said.

The female players will play off forwardtees.

It is not the first time women have been included in a European Tour field, however.

American golfer Michelle Wie played in the European Masters in 2006, missing the cut at 15 over. From 1988-91, the Benson and Hedges Trophy was a mixed strokeplay event on the tour.

It was announced last year that L..
