Lukas Nelson, Willie’s son, on getting better at golf, and why his dad “lit up a fat one” on the course
Photo by Atiba JeffersonNOT A BENCHWARMER: Lukas Nelson at the McInnis Park Golf Center in San Rafael, Calif. “When I was a kid, just getting into music, my dad said, 'You're good, but not that good,' ” recalls Lukas Nelson. “I thought, I can take this two ways: I can stop playing, or I can get that good.”
Nelson, whose dad is country-music legend Willie Nelson, decided to go all in, practicing guitar and writing songs practically around the clock. “I put in hours like I was an Olympian,” he says. It paid off. Last fall the country-rock singer released his fourth studio album, “Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real,” to critical acclaim and solid sales. He and his band also recorded an album, “The Monsanto Years,” with Neil Young and toured with him for two years.
Now Nelson, 29, would like to get “that good” at golf. He has enjoyed the game since he can remember—his dad owns Pedernales, a nine-holer outside Austin—but picked it up in earnest only a couple of years ago. Squ..
Bayern Munich unveil incredible new hotel suite overlooking the field
TF-ImagesTraveling for sports sucks. Invariably you end up in some sardine can five miles from the stadium (TRIPADVISOR SAID WALKING DISTANCE!) only to learn that the bus you were gonna take back from the stadium stops running at 11pm because this is The City That Never Sleeps…Between Like 9 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. and After That All Bets Are Off. German soccer giants Bayern Munich, however, have a better solution for the droves of fans that flood in from around the world on a weekend-in, weekend-out basis: Their very own hotel suite, tucked deep within the heart of the Allianz Arena. Behold your oasis, weary traveler.

Billy Hurley III calls Jordan Spieth “disgusting” and a “thief” in satirical attack ad that is absolute gold
Many golf fans have probably never heard of the PGA Tour Player Advisory Council—the panel of tour players that represent their fellow pros and assist the PGA Tour Policy Board in making decisions with commissioner Jay Monahan. Thanks to this brilliant ad produced by Billy Hurley III, who is running against Jordan Spieth for the chairman of the PAC, everyone is now aware. And likely, all-in on Hurley's candidacy.
Obviously, Spieth is one of the most popular players in the game—not just with fans but his fellow players. So Hurley has a tough fight ahead with the 24-year-old “Golden Child” in Tuesday's election. Conversely, Hurley might've swayed some votes with this hilarious video he shared on social media on Monday.

Fabulous work by Hurley, the winner of the 2016 Quicken Loans Invitational, who served five years in the U.S. Navy after graduating from the Naval Academy. You know even Spieth cracked up aft..
Phil Mickelson isn’t going away any time soon
Phil Mickelson, 47, has more to accomplish in golf, like grabbing that missing U.S. Open title and winning a Ryder Cup in Europe. Or just simply winning again
Jimmy Butler hung 38 on the Bulls while wearing a $20,000 pair of Jordans
The NBA is not short of on ridiculous, ostentatious displays of wealth. Just look up the sticker price on Russell Westbrook's ripped sweatshirts or, better yet, tune in to the All-Star festivities this weekend if you don't believe us. That said, no player has pulled off a power move this season quite like Jimmy Butler, who put up 38-5-7 while wearing a $20,000 pair of Air Jordans on Friday night.
FacebookPinterestJeff HaynesIf you're a sneakerhead, you've probably already pegged these as the Eminem x Carhartt x Air Jordan 4 Retros, a commemorative sneaker gifted to friends and family of the brand and then auctioned off for the 15th Anniversary of Eminem’s Shady Records in 2015. At the time, the highest bid clocked in around 30K, but the price has since fallen to the 20K range—a point where Butler, noted Shoe Guy™, apparently felt they were cheap enough to sweat and scuff through a professional game of basketball in.
Of course, Butler is halfway though a five-year, $..

The 2008 Celtics reunited for Paul Pierce’s jersey retirement in Boston (except Ray Allen, who played golf)
Sunday at TD Garden was supposed to be a day to remember for Boston Celtics fans and franchise legend Paul Pierce, whose #34 jersey went up in the rafters before the Celtics matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Unfortunately, the day will be remembered much less for Pierce's jersey retirement and more for the new-look Cavs turning the corner and manhandling Boston, 121-99.
Despite the blowout, it was still an incredible moment for Pierce, whose jersey will now hang alongside the likes of Larry Bird, Bill Russell and Bob Cousy. That's a pretty big deal, big enough for former teammates Kevin Garnett and the still active Rajon Rondo to come out and show their old teammate respect, in addition to former coach Doc Rivers, who delivered a speech prior to opening tip. This led to a 2008 Celtics reunion photo of sorts, which had one glaring omission:

ESPN’s Jay Williams drains half-court shot in a suit, knew it was in the whole way
It's been nearly 16 years since Jay Williams was terrorizing ACC teams with his seemingly limitless shooting range. But the ESPN analyst showed he's still got plenty of game on Saturday during the latest edition of College Gameday.

Williams and his crew were at John Paul Jones Arena ahead of the Virginia-Virginia Tech matchup when they were joined on court by a special guest, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long, who played his college ball at UVA. Williams, feeling pretty confident Long wouldn't make a half-court attempt, offered him $100,000 if he made the shot. He felt even more confident once the ball left his hands on his own attempt. Ray Romano almost killed Jordan Spieth with a skulled bunker shot at Pebble Beach
The best golfers in the world know they're signing up for extra long rounds if they play in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. But apparently, they're also putting their lives in danger by stepping inside the ropes with people who don't play golf for a living.
Fortunately, Jordan Spieth has quick reflexes.

During Saturday's third round at Pebble Beach, the three-time major champ was preparing to hit his tee shot on the fifth hole when shouts of “Fore!” caused him to duck. An errant golf ball had come from someone skulling a bunker shot on the fourth hole. And not just anyone, but Ray Romano. Check out the clip, which we can now laugh at since no one was hurt:

That's one way to forget about some recent struggles on the green. Golf Channel's Randall Mell confirmed Romano was the culprit.
