Weather again stops Singapore Open
SINGAPORE (AP) Chapchai Nirat birdied his first four holes and then his last two in a 7-under 64 Friday to grab the clubhouse lead in the second round of the weather-interrupted Singapore Open.
The Thai golfer also birdied the 14th hole in a flawless round to jump to the top of the leaderboard at 7-under 135 before the threat of lightning suspended play for the second day in a row with half of the 156-player field still to complete their second rounds.
Masters champion Sergio Garcia was at 8 under with 10 holes to play. The Spaniard was tied for second with Kurt Kitayama, who had 16 holes to play, and Shaun Norris, who managed to beat the weather and sign for a 67.

The Singapore Open is often delayed by weather problems caused by the stifling humidity and heat of Southeast Asia, and dozens of players had to return to Sentosa Golf Club just after dawn on Friday to complete their first rounds.

Kelly continues strong play, leads PGA Tour Champions opener (Jan 18, 2018)
KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) Fresh off a solid performance on Oahu, Jerry Kelly shot an 8-under 64 on the Big Island on Thursday to share the first-round lead at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship, the season opener on the PGA Tour Champions.
Kelly, 51, who tied for 14th at the PGA Tour’s Sony Open last week in Honolulu, birdied five of his final seven holes to shoot 30 on the back nine at Hualalai. He won twice last season, his first on the over-50 tour.
”Last week helped a lot just to prepare because I took my first two months off since probably 1989 when I turned pro, so I only practiced for one week. I didn’t even play 18 holes a day,” Kelly said. ”So I played really well last week. If I would have putted like I did today, I would have won easy. So I took that into this week. Switched back to my old putter and had a good day on the greens.”

Jon Rahm shoots 62, takes CareerBuilder Challenge lead
LA QUINTA, Calif. (AP) Jon Rahm’s soaring 5-iron settled 5 feet away to set up an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole at La Quinta Country Club.
”It’s quite simple, honestly,” Rahm said. ”Beyond perfect drive, perfect second shot, perfect putt.”
Two hours later Thursday in the first round of the CareerBuilder Challenge, young Charlie Reiter matched his new friend’s eagle with a low hook around a tree to a foot.

”It was a little down in the rough,” said Reiter, the Palm Desert High School senior who recently played with Rahm at nearby Big Horn. ”I just closed the face and trusted my swing and it worked out perfectly.”
Rahm also had eight birdies in his bogey-free round for a 10-under 62 and a one-stroke lead. The 23-year-old Spaniard – the top-ranked player in the field at No. 3 in the world – played the first seven holes in 6 under on a sunny morning so comfortable he shed his light sweater halfway through his warmup on the driving range.

Tom Hardy’s 1999 mixtape has been unearthed…and it’s not terrible
Jason LaVerisTom Hardy is a man of few words. Grumbling and mumbling through starring turns in Dunkirk, Lawless, and Mad Max: Fury Road, Hardy has become Hollywood's arty tough guy—a stoic ass-kicker who doesn't need one-liners to land his punches. As Reddit discovered this week, however, the London native wasn't always so reserved, rattling off relentless verbal machine-gun fire on his long-lost mixtape, Falling on Your Arse in 1999, which—after 19 years in the wind—not-so-quietly popped up on bandcamp earlier this month.
So how do Hardy's bars hold up to those found on 2001, Things Fall Apart, Black on Both Sides, Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter, and the fistful of other legendary releases from a watershed year in rap? Unsurprisingly, they don't. Surprisingly, they're not that far behind either. Dealing in the blokey, ropey style that dominated Y2UK hip hop scene, Falling on Your Arse in 1999—produced in collaboration with DJ Eddie Too Tall—wouldn&..
Raptors center doesn’t get why Canada hates Nickelback

(Photo by Matteo Marchi/Getty Images)Yes, ripping Nickelback is a tired note, right up there with “That feeling when…” Instagram posts, “3-1” Warriors jokes and guy-tapping-head gifs. But this tale from Toronto puts a new spin on this worn-out convention.
Ratpors center Lucas Nogueira is a lover of rock and roll, sharing his enjoyment of the subject with CBS Sports' James Herbet. The Brazilian big man is far from the first athlete to make this passion known: from playing guitar to collecting records to owning labels and producing tracks, sports stars and music are simpatico. What makes this story diff..
INTENSE new Phillies manager Gabe Kapler hopes to lead team to “sh-tload of wins”
Alex TrautwigORLANDO, FL – DECEMBER 12: Manager Gabe Kapler of the Philadelphia Phillies speaks during media availability at the 2017 Winter Meetings at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Orlando, Florida. (Photo by Alex Trautwig/MLB Photos via Getty Images)With all the hoopla surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles, and the potential for an apocalypse-inducing victory this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, it's easy to forget this normally-sad sports city is in the midst of a full-blown revival. The Sixers are one of the NBA's most exciting young teams, the Flyers are still in the Wild Card hunt and the Phillies might finally give fans a reason to come out to Citizens Bank Park in 2018, and if they don't, the team's new manager Gabe Kapler might just drag them there by brute force. In case you missed our last check-in with Kapler, the former MLB outfielder is absolutely YOKED.
Chances are you're a pretty intense human when ..
