He got it done on the court, making five consecutive All-Star Games to begin his career and finishing third in MVP voting in 2014. The man was also a marketing wizard, using his outward personality to appear in commercials, TV shows and even stand-up.
Alas, injuries have taken their toll on the high-flying superstar, mis..

These Dallas Mavericks fans sitting courtside probably (definitely) bet on the game judging by their celebration
Betting on any sport in general is a dicey endeavor, but can have its perks if done properly. Betting on the NBA, specifically over/unders, however, is suicide. The totals are often frighteningly close, usually coming down to free throws or a garbage time layup by one team's 12th man. If you do take part, you'll find yourself not actually watching the game but constantly doing mathematical equations in your head of all possible outcomes. It's rarely fun, even if you do eventually win.
It was fun for a group of NBA fans on Tuesday night though, likely with the help of some adult beverages and the fact that everyone one clearly bet the same side. The over/under in the Dallas Mavericks-Orlando Magic was set at 215, and with the Mavs leading 114-99 with 10 seconds to play, the fate of over/under bettors came down to the final possession. When Dallas dribbled out the clock and sealed the under, cameras captured a group of fans celebrating courtside at the American Airlines Ce..

Column: Rahm just as determined in classroom as on course
HONOLULU (AP) Jon Rahm never lacked for confidence with his golf.
His father needed a little more convincing.
That’s a big reason why Edorta Rahm was so bullish on his son leaving their small town of Barrika in the Basque region of northern Spain for college in America. Never mind that his son didn’t speak a word of English. This wasn’t about improving his golf. He wanted Rahm to get an education.

The 23-year-old Rahm returned home in December with the best of both worlds – a degree in communications from Arizona State, and three victories worldwide in his 18 months as a pro that have taken him to No. 3 in the world, the highest-ranked European.
Rahm recalled one conversation with his father that allowed him to look back on the path he took with no regrets.
”So many parents make the mistake that kids are more than what they really are, and they give them too much confidence,” Rahm said. ”My dad was always a few steps away from that. He always thou..
Lindsey Vonn says she wishes Tiger Woods “would have listened” more, but is rooting for his comeback
Chris Condon/PGA TOUR/Getty ImagesTiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn share a laugh at the opening ceremony for the 2013 Presidents Cup.How popular is Tiger Woods' comeback right now? Even his ex-girlfriend is rooting for him.
Lindsey Vonn had (mostly) kind words for her former boyfriend in a new profile on the superstar skier written by Sports Illustrated's Tim Layden. You should read the entire piece that delves into all the scars — both physical and mental — that Vonn is trying to overcome as the 2018 Winter Olympics approach, but this quote about Woods caught our attention for obvious reasons.
“I loved him and we’re still friends. Sometimes, I wish he would have listened to me a little more, but he’s very stubborn and he likes to go his own way,” Vonn told Laden. “I hope this latest comeback sticks. I hope he goes back to winning tournaments.”

Japanese kayaker receives eight-year Olympic ban for lacing competitor’s drink with steroids
The Asahi ShimbunGUANGZHOU, CHINA – NOVEMBER 25: (CHINA OUT, SOUTH KOREA OUT) Yasuhiro Suzuki of Japan competes in the Canoe Sprint Men's Kayak Single 1000m during day thirteen of the Guangzhou Asian Games at the International Rowing Centre on November 25, 2010 in Guangzhou, China. (Photo by The Asahi Shimbun via Getty Images)The Winter Olympics may be one month away, but it's a Summer Olympic sport that's grabbing all of the headlines on Tuesday. And by all of the headlines we mean the Olympic-related ones, more specifically, kayak-related.
That's because one of Japan's top kayak prospects has received an eight-year Olympic ban for spiking a competitor's drink with an anabolic steroid. According to the Japan Times, Yasuhiro Suzuki laced rival Seiji Komatsu's drink, causing him to fail a doping test. Who knew kayaking (welllll, actually, it's called Canoe Sprint) could be so ruthless:
The incident took place at the national canoe sprint champions..
PGA Tour caddie posts funny photo regarding rooming with his boss — and the replies were even better
Webb Simpson is a past U.S. Open champ who earned $3.2 million last season on the PGA Tour, which means his caddie, Paul Tesori, pulled in a pretty penny himself. But that's not keeping the two co-workers and friends from sharing a room on the road at the Sony Open. Hey, hotels in Hawaii are expensive.
Tesori posted this funny photo of the duo's digs for the week:

And some of the responses were even better:

Winning 8 times in a year? Optimism high at start of year
HONOLULU (AP) Hawaii brings out the highest level of optimism because it hosts the opening events of the new year, even if the season started three months ago.
Sergio Garcia won at Kapalua in 2002 and talked about winning the money list on both sides of the Atlantic, a bold plan that went awry when he finished 12th on the PGA Tour money list. Justin Thomas, Tiger Woods and David Duval are the only Kapalua champions who won multiple times on the PGA Tour the rest of the year.
So the idea that someone could have an eight-win season – done three times by Tiger Woods, once by Vijay Singh in the last 40 years – doesn’t seem as unlikely now as it might be at the end of the year.

”I definitely think I can,” said Dustin Johnson, who has won eight times in the last 30 months and will never say he can’t do anything. ”There’s a lot of really good players out here on tour, and for me to do that, I’m going to have to play some really good golf. But I’m definitely ..
