Cabrera & Son take lead in Father-Son Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) Two-time major champion Angel Cabrera and Angel Cabrera Jr. birdied their last three holes for a 13-under 59 to take a one-shot lead Saturday in the PNC Father-Son Challenge.

Cabrera, a Masters and U.S. Open champion, is making his debut in this popular 36-hole scramble. His son said he practiced hard for 10 days and was certain playing front of cameras. What helped put him at ease was watching his father make so many putts.

”We combined very well,” Cabrera said. ”When I hit a bad shot, he hit a good one. That’s the key.”

They had a one-shot lead over Mark O’Meara and Shaun O’Meara, who are playing for the first time. That included a birdie on the last hole, which O’Meara attributed to the strength of his son.

”My little man hit it 58 yards by me on the 18th,” said O’Meara, the Masters and British Open champion in 1998. ”It’s a little easier coming in with a 6-iron.”

Brian Boyle scores 100th career NHL goal, immediately starts fight, continues to dominate life

Even non-NHL fans know Brian Boyle's story by now. In September, the New Jersey Devils center announced that he had been diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia, an uncommon form of blood-cell cancer that begins in the bone marrow but is treatable by medication. In typical hockey player, badass fashion, Boyle was back on the ice on November 1. Eight days later, he scored his first goal as a Devil.
Not surprisingly, Boyle is still dominating life a month later, most recently on Friday night in New Jersey's game at home against the Dallas Stars. Late in the second period, Boyle was the beneficiary of a rebound in front of the net off of a slapshot from Devils defenseman Will Butcher. After finding the back of the net, Boyle took exception with a hit he took from Stars defenseman John Klingberg and tossed a hilarious chirp his way:

In this joyous season, let’s stop sending all these stupid cards

Westend61Woman hanging up Holiday cards for decorationThis weekend I went to buy a birthday card for a 5-year-old, and happened upon an option that cost $7.99. It did not come with anything you’d expect when handing over $7.99, such as a Paw Patrol action figure or a can of tobacco or two Steak N’ Shake meals. It did not emit its own light. It did not play “Who Let the Dogs Out,” which is the only time I’ve ever been disappointed by that sentence. It did not convert into a plane, or a robot, or a member of the MCU. It sat there, doing jack squat, mocking its own luxurious price tag, saying, “This entire card rack is ridiculous, and also 5-year-olds usually can’t read.”
I have never paid $7.99 for a card. I will go to my grave never having paid more than four dollars for a card, and if my children’s children ever pay more than four dollars for a card I will scrape myself out of the ground and haunt the shit out of those people. If I am in need of a card and the store I am in does not co..
