(Photo by Cindy Ord/Getty Images for SiriusXM)On Friday, Mike Francesa, New Yawk's Numbah One sports radio personality for the last 30 years, will air his final show from 1 to 6:30 p.m. ET on WFAN Sports Radio 660 AM (and 101.9 FM). It's an afternoon drive slot he's absolutely owned Monday through Friday since 1989, the last 10 of those years by himself and the prior 19 with his former partner Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo. Don't believe me? Just listen to Mike tell you all about it:

Francesa has plenty of critics, but not even the staunchest of them can deny that he is the greatest to ever do it. As someone who has listened to him for the better part of the last decade, Friday will be a sad day not only for me, but for mos..

This sad tweet sums up the pathetic existence of the Miami Marlins

Mike EhrmannMIAMI, FL – AUGUST 25: Giancarlo Stanton #27 of the Miami Marlins hits a two run home run in the first inning during a game against the San Diego Padres at Marlins Park on August 25, 2017 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)The never-ending rebuild for the Miami Marlins is a sports travesty. Actually, “rebuild” is the wrong nomenclature, for that implies hope. And there is no hope for this maligned franchise.
For only the Marlins can see an ownership change from Jeffrey Loria—a man who had a six percent approval rating and was once named the “worst man in sports”—to a group that somehow makes things worse. Before the ink dried on the property title exchange, new ownership (backed by Bruce Sherman's fortune with Derek Jeter serving as public puppet) traded reigning MVP Mike Giancarlo Stanton to the New York Yankees.
Which, in and of itself, is somewhat defensible: Stanton was making a boatload of money, and a player of his caliber should bring back a ..

My day (and night) at the backyard golf hole of a man who builds backyard golf holes

An overlooked aspect of any great backyard golf hole is the backyard itself. As obvious as that may seem, I fully realize this as I’m white-knuckling a golf cart that keeps climbing through the semi-wilderness behind Michael Lehrer’s Armonk, N.Y. home. Lehrer is leading this unexpected safari while bubbling with a mix of energy and pride — “You’re going to love this!” — and when we finally reach our destination unscathed, I’m happy to unclench and examine the surroundings.
“How much land do you have?” I ask after adjusting to being on solid footing and possibly, the new altitude.
“I have enough for what I do,” Lehrer responds with a smirk.

What he does is build backyard golf holes as the president and founder of Home Green Advantage. And his property is part showroom, part personal playground, and all spectacular. Our trek has taken us to the highest point of his land and now we’re looking straig..

Tiger Woods’ caddie shares hilarious story about Tiger taking a game of H.O.R.S.E. very, VERY seriously

Stan BadzFrom his famed fist pumps to his intimidating stare that has rendered so many opponents helpless on Sundays, Tiger Woods' competitiveness is almost as renowned as his ability to hit a golf ball. But if you think Tiger is intense on the golf course, apparently, he's even more ruthless on the basketball court.
Woods' caddie, Joe LaCava, appeared on SXM PGA Tour Radio on Wednesday night and he shared a hilarious story about their heated hoops battles. More specifically, Woods takes his games of H.O.R.S.E. very, very seriously.

“Then I get him on the baseline from 10-12 feet, and I beat him nine games in a row, this is a true story, nine games in a row. He did not talk to me the rest of the day,” LaCava said. “I didn't even get the old text, 'Dinner is ready,' because I stay across at the beach house. I didn't even get that text that night so I had to get take-out.”

Penguins were once as big as Sidney Crosby, suggest awesome new fossils

Bruce BennettScience is a weird, wild, wonderful thing. One minute you’re reading about how the first interstellar object ever discovered in our solar system is being scanned for alien radio waves by a Russian billionaire, and the next you stumble across a report that suggests there was once a version of this earth with penguins the size of humans.
Yep.
Based on 60-million-year-old fossils recently uncovered in New Zealand—where apparently all good things on this planet happen these days—there once existed a species of giant penguin that stood 5’ 10” tall and tipped the scale at a robust 223 pounds. That’s taller than Rickie Fowler, Lionel Messi, Conor McGregor, Darren Sproles, and Danny Devito.
FacebookPinterestBased on drastically smaller fossils thought to be around 66 millions years old, scientists theorize that the rapid growth of penguins during this era can be attributed to the extinction of the dinosaurs approximately 65 millions years ago. Whatever the reason, however, it’s in..
