Presidents Cup 2017: Phil Mickelson took a selfie with Obama, Bush and Clinton before his match and it’s amazing

Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama hanging out on the first tee to kick off the 2017 Presidents Cup was a history-making event — marking the first time that three former U.S. presidents have attended the matches in such fashion.
The moment wasn't lost on Phil Mickelson, as his brother shared this hilarious selfie that Phil took with the former world leaders before Phil's Day 1 match.

Phil could've angled the camera a little better — but hey, we're just thankful that Phil thought to document the moment with Presidents Nos. 42, 43 and 44. Donald Trump is expected to attend the Presidents Cup on Sunday, tour officials said on Wednesday, which would mark the first time that the sitting president attended the matches.
Not to be outdone by that selfie with Phil is this equally awesome photo of the three presidents hanging out with the Team USA WAGS on the first tee.

Coetzee, Hatton lead British Masters after 7-under 63s (Sep 28, 2017)

NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, England (AP) George Coetzee and Tyrrell Hatton shot 7-under 63s to lead the British Masters on Thursday, while Rory McIlroy needed the help of a spectator to stay on track in his first round.

Coetzee followed up top-10 finishes at his last two events by rolling in six birdies and making an eagle at the par-5 sixth hole to set a clubhouse target at Close House Golf Club in northern England.

Hatton joined Coetzee atop the leaderboard by making birdies on five of the last seven holes, including one from 15 feet at the par-3 18th.

Finnish golfers Mikko Ilonen and Mikko Korhonen were in a five-way share of third place on 6 under, along with Alvaro Quiros, Chris Hanson and Rikard Karlberg.

McIlroy, who was a late entry after failing to qualify for the Tour Championship on the U.S. PGA Tour, shot 67 but only after a spectator found his ball inside the five-minute time limit following a wild drive on No. 17, his eighth hole.

The No. 6-ranked McIlroy produced a su..

Watching European Tour pros heckle each other will make you wish there was heckling in golf

Ever wonder what golf would be like if heckling was allowed? We're not talking about the weak kind of heckling from fans that occurred at last year's Ryder Cup, but from golfers themselves. Well anyway, now we have an idea.
RELATED: Watch a fake European Tour TV reporter hilariously prank players
The European Tour's latest fun video centers around four players — Andy Sullivan, Nicolas Colsaerts, Thorbjorn Olesen and Paul Waring — heckling each other as they try to hit shots. And they try out everything from your garden variety heckling of yelling in someone's backswing to blowing an air horn to even soaking each other with water guns and playing badminton while someone lines up a putt. Yeah, things escalated pretty quickly. Have a watch:
Of course, we don't expect these types of shenanigans to be added to any actual tournaments anytime soon. But in the meantime, for these four players, it should make hitting a golf shot in complete silence and stillness seems..

Bill Murray may play Joe Maddon in upcoming film about Cubs’ World Series triumph

Icon SportswireUnless you’ve been sleeping in a cave under a rock at the bottom of the ocean with noise-cancelling ear plugs and no Wi-Fi for the past year, you no doubt know that Bill Murray is a die-hard, goat-fearing, daffy-duck spitting Chicago Cubs super-mega-uber-fan.
RELATED: It's not even the playoffs, and Cubs fans have already lost it.
That’s why it makes all the sense in the world that Murray, a likeable, graying icon whose whole shtick is acting less than half his age, has, according to Deadline, been tapped to play Cubs' manager Joe Maddon—a likeable, graying icon whose whole shtick is acting less than half his age—in an upcoming film adaptation of the Cubbies incredible curse-busting World Series. Some things in this world just make too much sense NOT to happen. This is one of those things.
Titled Teammate, the Shane Abbess-directed film has yet to confirm casting, however, so even though Maddon seems predictably psyched about watching Bill Murray essentially ju..

Mickelson leads US for 23rd straight time in team event

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) Phil Mickelson is the voice of experience in team competition, and there’s no comparison.

He was on the putting green Wednesday morning at the Presidents Cup, explaining to some of the six rookies on the American team why the teams might change for the final day of practice, the schedule after the team photo, just about anything short of how to tie their shoes.

Mickelson has played in the Presidents Cup every year since it began in 1994. He has played in every Ryder Cup since 1995. Add them up and this will be his 23rd consecutive time playing in a team event.

For someone like PGA champion Justin Thomas, playing in his first one, that can be hard to fathom.

”I can’t, especially because I was 1 when he playing in his first one, which is really crazy to think,” Thomas said. ”I would love to see what kind of person he was then. I’m sure he was still the same kind of guy. But it’s crazy. To be that good for that long and to have the reputation that he does, b..
