Twitter’s 280-character limit changes the only thing people like about Twitter

NurPhotoLeading cyberbullying platform Twitter announced this week that it’s mulling the possibility of doubling its current 140-character limit to 280, a dramatic change for a company that’s become as synonymous with 140 as Jordan is with 23. What does this mean for you, the pithy user or your valuable brand? The pros and cons of Twitter going all 280:
PROS
• Expanding to 280 characters gives users way more room to be racist
• After a natural disaster/mass shooting/one of 2017’s 300 hurricanes, politicians will no longer have to abbreviate “thoughts and prayers”
• Should reduce ampersand use by 700%
• Allows more space for the President of the United States to share his wisdom and inspiration
• Tweet threads that start “1/18” will be reduced to a much more manageable “1/9”
• Should let Ted Cruz to be more informed about his choice in mom-porn
• Defiant users can safely just say “don’t at me” instead of using that ridiculous symbol thing
• If you thought Chick-Fil-A’s 22-year-old corpo..

John Daly is opening a steakhouse that features a golf club chandelier (Obviously)

Rejoice, Arkansas residents, because Wednesday is a HUGE day. John Daly's steakhouse is having its grand opening. Hooray!
Yes, we were as surprised as you to learn that Daly hadn't yet opened a steakhouse in his native state. But now the two-time major champ has rectified that glaring void with his latest business venture. And not surprisingly, he seems pretty excited about it. So excited, in fact, he cropped the beginning of his name out of this photo:

And good lord, is that a lot of hashtags. John, you probably didn't need to alert anyone to the fact that your steakhouse serves dinner. . .
Anyway, Daly shared a few other photos ahead of the bid day. Here's a glance at the menu, which looks reasonably priced and surprisingly understated (Well, other than Daly's lion logo).
FacebookPinterestThe only personalized item we see on there is Big John's Steakhouse Burger, which is topped with charred onions and fried egg. Sounds about rig..

Inspired by Justin Thomas, Grayson Murray shares his honest and hilarious list of (mostly) golf goals for next season

Grayson Murray's somewhat rocky rookie campaign on the PGA Tour ended on a bit of an upswing. And now he's taken a cue from Justin Thomas in trying to ensure he keeps the momentum going into next season.
RELATED: Grayson Murray starting to make headlines for the right reasons
The newly crowned FedEx Cup champ — and presumed PGA Tour Player of the Year — revealed the list of goals he'd set for himself before this season started. And on Tuesday, Murray, who won his first tour event at the Barbasol Championship in July, revealed what he hopes to accomplish on the golf course (and a little off it) in 2017-2018. Have a look at Murray's honest — and hilarious — list:

Some of these are fantastic. “Don't crap the bed on Sundays” is a reference to Murray's woeful final-round scoring average of 183rd. He was in the top 100 for all three other rounds. Yeah, better get that sorted out, Grayson.

Family affair for Davis Love III in Hall of Fame induction

NEW YORK (AP) Davis Love III was among four players inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in a ceremony rich in history and praise for the family who helped get them there – and for Lorena Ochoa, a family that allowed her to leave with purpose.

”Golf has improved my life in every way,” said Love, a PGA champion and two-time Ryder Cup captain. ”This induction is the greatest honor of my life.”

Love, Ochoa, Meg Mallon, Ian Woosnam and late British golf writer Henry Longhurst comprised the class for induction, which now takes place every other year. It was held in New York in conjunction with the Presidents Cup, which starts Thursday across the New York Harbor at Liberty National.

Love ended the two-hour ceremony with two pieces of crystal and his granddaughter in his arms.

The son of a respected teaching pro who perished in a plane crash in 1988 when Love’s career was just getting started, he told of how his father won a crystal vase from the 1964 Masters for having the low s..

Ko looks to end title drought at New Zealand Open

AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) Lydia Ko’s return home for the New Zealand Women’s Open will give the former world No. 1 a chance to sustain her recent improvement in form and perhaps collect her first LPGA title in more than a year.

Ko has won her home open in three of the last four years – 2013, 2015 and 2016. However, she faces a stronger challenge when the latest edition starts Thursday, as the tournament has become part of the LPGA Tour for the first time.

The strongest field in the tournament’s history includes seven major winners; an eighth, American Paula Creamer, withdrew Tuesday with a wrist injury.

The 20-year-old Ko will endeavor to become the first non-American to win an LPGA tournament in their home country since South Korea’s Kyu Jung Baek in 2014.

Ko has gone 29 tournaments since her last win at the 2016 Marathon Classic. Her world ranking has dropped to No. 8 during a 2017 season in which she has had nine top-10 finishes in 20 starts without adding to her list of wi..

Column: American golf sees a resurgence of youth

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) A few generations before Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas were even born, Ford Motor Co. put together a group of golfers known as the ”Young Thunderbirds” to promote the rising stars on the PGA Tour.

”We played a lot of practice rounds together,” said Johnny Miller, part of that group that included Lanny Wadkins, Jerry Heard, Jim Simon and Grier Jones. ”You just push each other, and we separated ourselves from all the other young players.”

What caused Miller to think back to the early 1970s was what he saw at East Lake for the Tour Championship, and what he will see this week at Liberty National for the Presidents Cup. The only difference was a car company promotion – and the size of the group.

Thomas won the FedEx Cup when he pulled away from Spieth over the final hour. They won the final two majors of the year. Both are 24 and have been close friends since they first met at a junior event in Texas that Spieth won 10 years ago.

Xander Schauffele won the T..
