Justin Thomas’ prescient goals, Jim Nantz’ incredible backyard golf hole, and models playing golf in odd places

Welcome to another edition of The Grind, where we were glad to learn that Justin Thomas also jots down golf goals on his phone. They’re juuuuust a little different than mine:
FacebookPinterestAnd while Thomas’ FedEx Cup title netted him a cool $10 MILLION bonus, the $10 Nassau I lost over the weekend still stings. . . Moving on, there’s an important lesson here for the kids: Jot down your goals. Sure, it might help you achieve them (Other than me making a first hole-in-one, of course). But more importantly, if you ever actually accomplish what you set out to do, then you can really impress people by sharing your prescient list. Anyway, here's what else stood out in the world of golf last week.
WE'RE BUYING
Justin Thomas: JT didn’t win at East Lake, but his runner-up was enough to capture the FedEx Cup and one of the biggest paydays in sports. He also capped a downright historic campaign as he became just the fourth player to win five times and a major in a season before turni..

Crazy rally driver drifting a Mustang up Pikes Peak will make you want to sell your mini-van

If you’re not already familiar with the art of Ken Block, don’t worry, it’s pretty simple: Speeding tickets are his muse, tarmac is his canvas, and smoking rubber is his paint, cast in long, arching smears across Dubai, Hollywood, San Francisco, and, now, Pikes Peak—perhaps the most infamous mountain road on earth.
Boasting 14,115-feet of vertigo-inducing drops and barf bag-bulging hairpins, Pikes Peak is best known for its annual Pikes Peak Hillclimb, which brings some of the most batshit wheelmen on earth to the Colorado cloud-scraper each year, all vying to set the fastest time up the 12.42-mile ascent while hopefully not doing this…
For Block, however, who became a household name (just ask your 18-year-old) thanks to his eight-year, ten-part, 384-MILLION-VIEW Gymkhana stunt-driving series, that’s not crazy enough. Actually it’s not even close. So for the 11th installment of his ongoing viral death wish—appropriately dubbed “Climbkhana”—Block grabbed the shell of an old Mustang, stu..

From start to finish, Thomas was best in golf this season

ATLANTA (AP) Justin Thomas had an inkling back in January that this season might be something special.

More than winning the Sony Open for a sweep of Hawaii and his third victory in five starts, it was how he won. Thomas opened with a 59 and never let up until he set the PGA Tour’s record for lowest 72-hole score and won by seven shots. Instead of trying to protect a lead, he left everyone in his wake.

”I felt like after that, I learned a lot to where I could kind of ride that momentum out for the year,” Thomas said.

But there was a moment early in the week at Waialae that might have set the tone for a FedEx Cup title that came down to the last hour.

Thomas played with Jordan Spieth when he shot 59, and the statistics would have suggested a different outcome. Spieth led the field that day in proximity to the hole with his approach shots at 18 feet, 4 inches. Thomas was seventh at 25 feet, 7 inches.

Thomas, however, was the one making all the putts.

Canadian man politely asking a family of bears to leave his backyard is the most Canadian thing ever

How would you react if a family of bears invaded your backyard? For Canadian Jordan Cote, the answer came naturally last week. Be polite.
RELATED: Watch a bear steal food out of a golfer's bag
Check out the amusing video of Cote kindly asking the bears to leave: “I need you guys to go, OK? . . . I gotta go to work.” And incredibly, the animals obeying right on cue:

“Thank you!” Cote says after they turn around and start walking away. “Hope you enjoyed my yard! Have a nice day!” What a swell guy.
Cote originally posted the video to a Facebook page called “Meanwhile in Sooke” (British Columbia) with the caption: “How a Canadian responds to wildlife.” Sounds about right. And CTV News gathered more details on the encounter between the bears and Cote.
“The whole encounter is so casual. I’m like, this is Canada,” Cote told CTV Vancouver. “If you remain calm, the bear remains calm. We all can co-exist.”
During these crazy times, what a ni..
