The Cleveland CBX wedge marks the second time in as many years that the company famous for its short game clubs is suggesting a fundamental change in wedge design theory.

A year ago, Cleveland introduced the RTX-3 wedges under the premise that the centers of gravity in wedges needed to be rethought. Now with the Cleveland CBX wedge, the company is suggesting golfers need to completely rethink the type of wedge they buy. In short, says senior product manager Brian Schielke, most of us (he says 84 percent, citing iron sales figures) are buying a wedge that doesn’t belong with the rest of the irons in their bag.
