Dwight Howard bought a purple Rolls-Royce in tribute to Thanos, the MCU’s genocidal space maniac
Joe ScarniciLadies and gentleman, we proudly present Dwight Howard: 2019 Edition. A new team! A fresh start! The same old bullsh*t. On Wednesday, the Lakers's new plan-z appeared on an episode of 'In Depth With Graham Bensinger' (who?), giving Bensinger a 'Cribs'-esque tour of his 35,000-square-foot supervillain lair, including his exotic snake collection and, of course, his garage. On the whole it was pretty standard rich-person stuff, but in the garage was a custom Grimace-purple Rolls-Royce with a full purple interior. When asked what was with all the purple, Howard explained with the straightest of straight faces:
I got this purple car because of Thanos, from the Avengers. He's my
favorite character because he was able to understand that in order for
him to complete his mission, he had to get rid of his emotions and
that's the hardest thing that thing that we all face.
What Howard fails to mention or grasp on even the most fundamental level, is th..
12-year-old kid “beats the pros” at European Tour event, has clearly been watching Hideki Matsuyama too much
Vince Komen may only be 12, but he sure looks like a tour pro already. The young man who won the “Beat the Pros” contest at this week's KLM Open on the European Tour flashed a FootJoy logo on his collar, buttoned his top button like Bubba Watson, and even gave a Hideki Matsuyama-esque reaction to his winning shot. Check it out:

Seriously, he seemed disgusted with the shot, pulling out another tried-and-true tour pro move, the one-handed finish. To be fair, it looked like Vince caught that a little thin, but it ran out to about 15 feet, closer than the efforts of the actual tour pros he was competing against. Hey, it's never too early to learn this all-important life lesson: Thin to win!
We also learned that “Twee” in Dutch translates to “two,” which is how many plane tickets Komen earned for his clutch performance. But KLM couldn't hook the kid up with first-class? Bad job, KLM. Unless “economy class” translates..
Watch the worst—and most amazing—shot ever hit on the Road Hole at St. Andrews
OK, so maybe it wasn't the worst shot ever hit at the famed Road Hole at St. Andrews. There have been so many through the years that the Old Course Hotel, which juts out towards the fairway of the Old Course's 17th, installed a rubber roof a few years back. Apparently, errant tee shots were costing the establishment as much as $2,000 per week in shingle replacement. That's a lot of shingles!

So, again, hitting the Old Course Hotel is nothing new. But having your golf ball bounce right back to you when you do? Now that is an impressive feat. And one that was luckily caught on camera. Check it out:

Is it possible the entire hotel is covered in rubber now? Because that was quite the bounce.
In any event, this golfer has a memory that will last a lifetime. And unlike most golfers who send that intimidating tee shot right, he was was only hitting two for his..

Let’s play a game of 2019-’20 PGA Tour Jeopardy!
After two excruciating, interminable weeks, the PGA Tour is officially back, and with it meaning, purpose and a reason to go on. You know the faces and remember the names (it hasn't been that long), but there's still a lot to cover, so fire up the DVR, thaw that TV dinner and settle in for the inaugural edition of PGA Tour Jeopardy! While the winnings are totally imaginary, keep that buzzer at the ready, because Jeopardy! has never been about the money—it's about how much smarter you are than everyone.

FacebookPinterestWhat is West Virginia?
This weekend the heart of Appalachia plays host to A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, which, despite sounding like every Bob Hope Christmas special ever, is actually the first official stop on the 2019-'20 PGA Tour calendar. There have been a few grumbles about it falling just two weeks after the FedEx C..
Kobe Bryant puts middle schooler on blast for going to dance recital instead of game, is a ruthless coach
Shaquille O'Neal isn't the only basketball player whose commitment to winning has been called out by Kobe Bryant in recent years. Turns out, the five-time NBA champ wasn't happy when one of the middle school girls he coaches missed a game for a dance recital. Apparently, the Mamba isn't a fan of the rumba.

It seems the unnamed youngster, a teammate of one of Bryant's daughters, made this choice two years ago. But on Wednesday, Kobe called her out for that decision on Instagram, because a tenet of “Mamba Mentality” is being able to hold a grudge. Even against a sixth grader.
FacebookPinterestHOWEVAH, Bryant edited/softened the caption a bit later, going on to praise the young lady's current work ethic (Take notes, Shaq). Here's the updated post:
