ESPN’s having a “Dog Day,” which gives us a good a reason as any to post a bunch of photos of dogs

Chris CondonSo, there's not much to say about ESPN's press release that August (Dogust) 24—AKA ESPN Dog Day—will be a chaotic canine cash cow for the worldwide leader.
There will be different dog competitions and E:60-type stories on good boys and a special episode of Always Late with Katie Nolan that will feature pups and a dog relay and a showing of Air Bud. This is all great news. Give us all of the dogs you can.
I can try to really break this down for you minute-by-minute, but you don't want that. You're busy out there living your life and you can just tune into ESPN (after perusing all of Golf Digest's unbelievable digital and magazine content, of course) in the dog days of August.
Instead, I'm just going to post some pictures of dogs that I found on Getty Images.

Yasiel Puig mimics breakout batting stance of Little League World Series in actual MLB game

If you weren't mainlining the knock-down, drag-out dog fight known as the Little League World Series this weekend, you missed A LOT. Sunday night featured the Little League Classic, in which Anthony Rizzo took the iconic cardboard box plunge, Chris Archer chatted it up with some impressively mulleted young flamethrower, and a bunch of 13-year-olds teased one of the finest closers of his generation. But the real highlight of the weekend was a Venezuelan slugger named Deivis Ordoñez, who debuted the single greatest batting stance since Jeff Bagwell on Saturday afternoon, becoming a viral baseball phenomenon in the process. Take it away, kid.

If you think that's great, however, just wait until you see what Yasiel Puig did on Sunday, taking Ordoñez's signature move to the majors during an actual at bat against the Yankees:

“Beat The Fridge” is the best promotion in baseball (SPOILER ALERT: You can’t beat The Fridge)

The Atlanta Braves caught promotion lightening in a bottle two years ago with “Beat The Freeze,” an ongoing in-game race involving a fan and a disguised former track star. And now the Braves' Triple-A affiliate, the Gwinnett Stripers (That's one “p,” people!) has found its own dominant sprinter in the form of a. . . husky male?

Meet The Fridge. He certainly weighs more than The Freeze, but he's got some serious wheels as well.
Watch as The Fridge starts the race by hobbling and pretending to be out of breath while an unsuspecting fan (who looks to be in far better shape) takes off around the warning track. SPOILER ALERT: The Fridge tracks him down and wins. Easily.
