A phanatical lawsuit takes Philadelphia Phillies by storm

Rich SchultzNARRATOR: In the criminal justice system the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups, the police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders.
These are their stories.
Today we will be looking into the case of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Phillie Phanatic.
You may know the latter from his exploits mimicking Lady Gaga, buying into the Disney propaganda machine or celebrating Irish heritage. Whether he's the best Philadelphia mascot is still up for debate.

Created in a collaboration between the Phillies and Harrison/Erickson Incorporated, the two sides have reached a stalemate in terms of sharing the profits of the beloved character. In 1984, an agreement was reached that gave the Phillies the rights to the costume “forever,” but according to Delaware Online, H/E now wants to terminate that contract to ..

Honda Classic winner Keith Mitchell may have been more fired up for J.T. Poston’s win than J.T. Poston

As many of the PGA Tour's younger stars like Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas have shown us, today's players live by Jackie Moon's motto from the cult classic “Semi-Pro”: E.L.E, Everybody Love Everybody. Athletes from past generations might scoff at seeing these guys congratulate each other after victories, but in 2019 everybody is buddy-buddy, and why wouldn't you be? They're all playing for a ton of money and living the life. Not everyone can be Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods, competitive-wise.

The best-buds culture of professional golf (which we're all for, by the way) was on full display Sunday during the final round of the Wyndham Championship, where J.T. Poston finished off an incredible, bogey-free week with a 62 to earn his first career victory. As the action unfolded at Sedgefield Country Club, the most nervous person of all was not Posto..

This Ronald Acuna Jr. bat flip is ready for October

Scott CunninghamIt's only August. Across the MLB, the postseason push is in full swing, but still, it's only August. Don't tell that to Braves phenom Ronald Acuna Jr., however, who just had a Mr. October-worthy weekend in the dead of the dog days. On Friday, he killed a satellite with a 463-foot moonshot, on Saturday walked it off in the bottom of the 10th and on the Sabbath, he rested…just kidding, he tied the game with a two-run homer and playoff-ready bat flip for the bat flip ages. Ladies and gentleman, please make sure your tray tables are closed and you seat is in the full upright position.

Screw it, I’m going to become a Liverpool fan

Laurence GriffithsIf you read a lot about sports on the Internet, you've probably seen your share of essays by American soccer novices deciding on which English Premiership team to support as they officially jump into the fandom. They go all out, with lots of research and soul-searching and weak analogies to the Cincinnati Reds. Friends, this is not one of those essays. The new season begins Friday, but I don't care about the teams, their history, or their current players. I am a soccer idiot, as evidenced by the fact that I couldn't even enjoy the 2018 World Cup, even though people seemed to agree it was a good one. I like to read books about soccer (like the excellent Among the Thugs, one of the best sports books ever written) better than I like to actually watch it.
And yet, there has to be something I'm missing. Wait, let me rephrase that: There is obviously something I'm missing. There's a reason soccer is so popular, there's a reason it hooks Am..
