This shot from Justin Thomas sounds more like a heat-seeking missile than a 3-wood
Justin Thomas is one of nine Americans who made the trip to Scotland this week for the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, and so far, it looks like a wise decision. He opened with a four-under 67 on Thursday at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, his second-lowest round since returning from a wrist injury at the Memorial Tournament. As it stands, he's three off the current lead.

The highlight of the day for Thomas came with a club he's produced quite a few highlights with over the years—his trusty 3 wood. Though it's not the result of the shot or the score he made on whichever hole it was (hard to tell given the fact the video cuts that part off in the left corner). It's the sound and flight of the shot that caught our eye and ear, because it sounds and looks more like a heat-seeking missile than it does a laced 3 wood. Have a watch and make sure to blast the volume:

British Open 2019: Get to know the golf courses of the British Open rota
For nearly everyone playing in and watching the 2019 British Open, Royal Portrush, the Northern Ireland layout that last held the tournament in 1951, is a mystery. But while everyone is getting familiarized with this venue ahead of the year's final men's major, we thought it was a good time to take a crash course on all the current Open courses. The (re)addition of Portrush makes it an even 10 tracks in the rota now. That's a full album so it's understandable if you get your Royals and your Links mixed up. Anyway, hopefully, this handy guide helps.

British Open 2019: The Most Unlikely British Open Champs
The British Open has a long history of surprising winners. We look at the players who were able to break through unexpectedly at golf's oldest major, including one name from the last time Royal Portrush hosted.

Jena Sims dominates ESPYS style like Brooks Koepka dominates major championships
First off, congrats to Brooks Koepka for being invited to ESPN's 2019 ESPYS. Of course, as the winner of four of the last nine major championships he's teed it up in (he's finished runner-up in two others), he deserves to be there. But keep in mind Brooks won two majors last year and had a horse take his spot on ESPN's annual dominant athletes list. So he's come a long way no matter if he takes home any hardware at Wednesday night's ceremony.

But let's be honest, that's not why we're here. On Tuesday, Koepka walked the red carpet at the event's pre-party and. . . we're pretty sure no one noticed. That's because his girlfriend, Jena Sims, was turning heads for her, um, stylish outfit. Here's the photo that sent Golf Twitter into a tizzy:

Surging rookie Wolff headlines John Deere Classic field
Matthew Wolff, a winner last week at 20, has the look of a future star at the John Deere Classic
Viktor Hovland imitates Stephen A. Smith with legendary—and completely random—answer
It's only taken Viktor Hovland about a month as a pro to establish himself as one of the PGA Tour's rising stars. And now, with one legendary—and completely random—answer in a press conference, the 21-year-old from Norway has already cemented his status as one of the game's best personalities.

During Hovland's Wednesday interview ahead of this week's John Deere Classic, he was asked about being one of the betting favorites going into the week. As someone who has asked my fair share of “what do you think about your Vegas odds?” questions to tour pros, I can tell you the answer is usually a boring, “I don't pay attention to that stuff.” But young Viktor, bless his heart, managed to turn his answer into a viral moment by imitating Stephen A. Smith's trademark “Stay off the weeeeeduh” line. Have a listen:
