Golf's most popular video game is now coming to your television.
Golden Tee, the arcade franchise that spurs a fondness in every hacker's heart, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. And to commemorate the celebration, the video game manufacturer Incredible Technologies is teaming up with ESPN to televise the Golden Tee World Championship, proving all is not lost with humanity.
From the press release:
“The World Championship is the perfect culmination of Golden Tee’s 30th anniversary,” said Don Pesceone, IT’s VP of Amusements. “We pride ourselves as one of the original esports, and our collaboration with ESPN speaks volumes to the longevity and competitive nature of our game that has been the driving force for decades.”
The 30-minute program will be showcased on ESPN networks later this summer—highlighting some of the weekend’s most impactful moments. It will conclude with the crowning of a new Golden Tee champion, and the largest cash prize ever awarded in the game’..

In a remarkable twist of fate, a Boston franchise was utterly shafted by the referees on Thursday night in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals. And don't give me DeflateGate or SpyGate or WhateverElseGate as your examples of New England sports teams getting screwed. The refs weren't doing the screwing in either of those cases.

They absolutely were on Thursday though, when late in the third period St. Louis Blues center Tyler Bozak tripped the hell out of Boston Bruins forward Noel Acciari, a penalty that went uncalled by the officials. It was a trip so blatant that even Bozak was expecting a call to come, but it never did. The Blues scored mere seconds later to go up 2-0, making the no-call a huge black eye for NHL officiating. But Donald dug even deeper into his photo collection on Thursday to produce this gem with Sergio Garcia from their days as teenaged golfers in honor of them being paired together at this week's RBC Canadian Open.

Donald later clarified the photo was actually from the 1995 European Boys Team Championship. Donald says he lost that day, but beat Sergio in singles to help lead England to the title. Anyway, here was Sergio's reaction:
