Chris Stroud shoots front-nine even-par 35—without a par—at The Northern Trust
In the last two months, Chris Stroud has played some of the best golf of his now decade-long career. The Texas native finished T-20 at the Greenbrier, T-19 a week later at the John Deere and then earned his first career victory at the Barracuda Championship, the PGA Tour's opposite week event during the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
The breakthrough victory earned him a spot in the PGA Championship, where he continued to ride the wave of great form. Stroud became one of the feel good stories of the season's final major, playing in the final group alongside Kevin Kisner, ultimately finishing in a tie for ninth.
This fine stretch of golf got him into the FedEx Cup Playoffs, somewhere he hadn't been since the 2015 Barclays. His first round at The Northern Trust wasn't great, a three-over 73 at Glen Oaks Club. Cancer-surviving pro who’s battling leukemia for third time says he’s in remission
Chris Hyde(Photo by Chris Hyde/Getty Images)Last month Jarrod Lyle, a two-time cancer-surviving professional golfer who's played on the PGA, Web.com and Australian Tours, announced that doctors had discovered an abnormality and feared leukemia had returned for the third time. The diagnosis was confirmed; Lyle immediately underwent treatment, vowing to be positive through the ordeal.
On Friday morning, the 35-year-old took to Instagram to deliver an important, inspiring update: his cancer was in remission.

Though he still has chemotherapy treatment on his schedule, Lyle said he “couldn’t be happier right now.”
Lyle has won twice on the Web.com Tour. He had made six of seven cuts on the PGA Tour in 2012 — highlighted by a T-4 at the Northern Trust Open — when leukemia returned, sidelining his season.
