At a press conference following the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Kingsbarns, non-playing U.S. skipper Juli Inkster added two captain’s picks—18-year-old LPGA rookie Angel Yin and 25-year-old Austin Ernst—to her 10 automatic qualifiers (see below). Europe’s Annika Sorenstam also named her four wild-cards—Anna Nordqvist, Emily Pedersen, Caroline Masson and Madelene Sagstrom—to complete her side.

AKRON, Ohio – When Jordan Spieth missed his birdie putt on the first hole at Firestone CC Sunday afternoon, John Wood, who caddies for Matt Kuchar, couldn’t contain himself walking down the second fairway, turning to Spieth’s caddie Michael Greller and asking playfully, “Where was that two weeks ago?”
Spieth and Kuchar, the main protagonists in the British Open at Royal Birkdale won by Spieth after a breathtaking scoring run down the stretch, were paired together in Sunday’s final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. The stakes weren’t quite as high as they began the day well behind 54-hole co-leaders Zach Johnson and Thomas Pieters.

More than five years after missing a 14-inch putt that would have won her the 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship, In-Kyung Kim has her first major championship victory, the Ricoh Women’s British Open. At last, the specter of that horrifyingly inexplicable lapse has been banished. At last, the diminutive Kim can move on, her career now defined by something other than a moment of golfing madness.
It has taken her a while though. Before “the putt,” Kim racked up as many as eight top-10 finishes in the five majors that constitute the female Grand Slam.
