New South Side Chicago bar has a strict set of rules…including no Cubs fans

Dilip VishwanatNothing breeds contempt faster than success. Back in 2015, the Chicago Cubs were lovable, plucky losers—an up-and-coming team with a cool-dad manager and a roster stacked with exciting young talent vying to overcome the cruel injustices of the universe. Fast forward three years (and one World Series championship), and the Cubs have become a bandwagon underachiever for fans who are suddenly so obnoxious they're not even allowed into bars in their own city anymore.
Or at least that's the case with new South Side speakeasy The Hyde, which—in addition to banning cell phones and MAGA hats and like 1,000 other things—has also placed a moratorium on guests who feel like letting their Cubs fan fly.
FacebookPinterestPart of the reason for this stipulation, is that The Hyde is located smack dab in the heart of whatever's left of White Sox territory. The rest is international speakeasy dress code, which requires all patrons to dress like Peaky Blinders extras, not No..

And here we have the best Mariano Rivera story yet from seven-time MLB All-Star Michael Young

Nick LahamWith the announcement that Mariano Rivera became the first unanimous selection to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday, anyone and everyone is telling their favorite Mo story. Former teammates, opponents, writers and athletes from other sports are all getting in the mix, as expected for a legend like Mariano, the greatest closer in MLB history. While each story is great, some are much better than others.
The best so far has come from Michael Young, a seven-time All-Star who spent the majority of his career with the Texas Rangers. From 2000-2012 Young played all over the infield in Texas, but most of his years came at shortstop after Alex Rodriguez went to the New York Yankees. Playing in the American League, Young saw plenty of Rivera in his career, including in the 2010 ALCS, which the Rangers won 4-2. Between 2001 and 2011, Young faced Rivera 24 times and had eight hits, only one of them extra bases, and three RBIs, per MLB.com. His career .333 average vs. Mo is as respecta..

Bill Murray lends voice to new film that explores the lives of caddies

Underwood Archives/Getty ImagesAs a grizzled Irish caddie climbs a rugged mound at Ballybunion, guiding his player—or perhaps “dragging” is the proper appellation—through biblical gusts, a familiar voice purrs. “To acquire a caddie,” says Bill Murray at the beginning of “Loopers: The Caddie’s Long Walk,” “is to have an ally in the battle against the elements, the golf course and life itself.” Fitting for the scene, but also, as the film shows, an apt description for the profession. Which, distilled to its core, is really a passion.
It’s that synergy of duty and devotion that galvanized director Jason Baffa and writer Carl Cramer to create this documentary, an ode to the caddie and the people who make it their occupation. Baffa and Cramer aren’t lifelong golfers, so former Augusta Chronicle writer Ward Clayton and Jim Packer, an entertainment veteran with an affinity for the game, were brought on to make sure the nuances of the sport were not lost. “There’s a lot of fun and character to..

Gorgui Dieng had a perfect response when asked why he wanted to meet Devin Booker in the tunnel after they were both ejected

Christian PetersenNBA players are notorious for “hold-me-back”-type scuffles, opting to talk that talk and get ejected rather than walk the walk. This led to one of the best NBA on TNT moments in history last season when Shaq and Chuck laughed their asses off at at the Clippers and Rockets needing a “po-lice presence” at the Staples Center during the post game for a non-existent “fight.” Yes, there are outliers like the Malice at the Palace and that time Carmelo Anthony sucker-punched Mardy Collins at the Garden. For the most part though, scuffles rarely escalate.
Tuesday night in Phoenix was the latest example of an NBA scuffle going absolutely nowhere, when Minnesota Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker had words after Booker took an elbow to the face from Dieng. Whatever Dieng said after clearly irked Booker, and the two got in each other's face. Here's the whole ordeal, including both players getting ejected and sent into the tunnel:
