(Photo by Chris Condon/PGA TOUR)On a weekend where match-play competition dominated the golf scene, the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open produced its own one-on-one showdown. Scott McCarron and Kevin Sutherland separated themselves from the rest of the PGA Tour Champions field on Sunday at En-Joie Country Club in Endicott, N.Y., sharing the lead for most of the back nine until McCarron finished birdie-birdie-birdie to close with a bogey-free 64 and win his third senior title of 2017.
Friends since their high school days in Northern California, the duo started the day at 12 under par, McCarron having shot an 11-under 61 on Saturday to jump into contention after an opening 71. Each played the opening nine holes Sunday in four under par, Sutherland holing out ..

The clubs Henrik Stenson used to win the Wyndham Championship

Streeter LeckaGREENSBORO, NC – AUGUST 20: Henrik Stenson of Sweden watches a tee shot on the second hole during the final round of the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club on August 20, 2017 in Greensboro, North Carolina. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)Although perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Henrik Stenson's bag is that he played this week without a driver (his 13-degree Callaway Diablo Tour 3-wood serving as the longest club in his bag), it was Stenson’s iron game and putting that won the Wyndham Championship for him Sunday.
In a dogfight with Ollie Schniederjans, Stenson nailed an iron shot from 229 yards on the par-5 15th to 21 feet, setting up an easy two-putt birdie. On the following hole he seemed to apply the dagger when he staked an 8-iron from 170 yards on the par-3 16th and then converted that putt for another birdie.
Stenson’s irons are Callaway’s Legacy Black, a cavity-back model only sold in Asia. Stenson has used the irons for several ye..

Watch pro make hole-in-one to possibly secure PGA Tour card

Entering the week as the 139th player in the FedEx Cup rankings, journeyman Martin Flores needed some magic to secure his PGA Tour card for next season. On Sunday at the Wyndham Championship, the 35-year-old pulled quite the rabbit out of his hat.
Starting his day outside the top 20 on the leader board, Flores toured the front in just 30 strokes. Unfortunately, he was unable to carry that momentum to start the back, playing the first five holes on the side in one over. Standing on Sedgefield's 16th hole, Martin required a miracle to avoid a trip back to the minors. He got just that, recording a hole-in-one:

The ace, along with a birdie at the 18th, equated to a seven-under 63, a number that moved Flores inside the projected cut for the PGA Tour postseason.
Afterwards, Flores spoke of the furious finish.
“You know, just lot of blood, sweat and tears and, you know, this game will beat you down sometimes,” Flores said, “and you&#0..

David CannonLexi Thompson of the United States team celebrates holing an eagle putt to win the 15th hole in her match against Anna Nordqvist during Sunday singles at the 2017 Solheim Cup.It was going to take a historic effort from the European team to erase a five-point deficit and somehow take back the Solheim Cup on Sunday at Des Moines Golf & Country Club. But the United States team wouldn’t allow it. Earning six of the 12 available singles points on Sunday when it only needed 3½, the American side finished out an impressive three-day triumph, winning 16½-11½, to retain the Cup.
Sunday’s first match out proved an example of the fire that U.S. captain Juli Inkster’s team demonstrated all week. Lexi Thompson struggled early to try and set a tone, falling 4 down through nine holes to Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist.
But then Thompson, after encouraging words from Inkster, regrouped, winning the 10th with a birdie, holing out from the fairway for eagle on the 11th hole for another win and makin..
