Chris Condon(Photo by Chris Condon/PGA TOUR)Two years ago, Sang-Moon Bae turned in the best season of his professional career, winning the Frys.com Open, accumulating nearly $2.6 million in earnings and competing for the International Team at the Presidents Cup, held in his native country of South Korea. Unfortunately for Bae, his homeland requires all males 18-to-35 to complete a two-year military commitment. After losing a court battle seeking a wavier, Bae was forced to set aside the sport for service.
However, on Wednesday Bae officially completed his duty as a rifleman in the army, and is making his return to golf at next month's Shinhan Donghae Open, an event co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Korean PGA.
“Even though I didn't get to play much, I grew to love golf even more,” the 31-year-old Bae said in a statement. He also mentioned he was able to keep in shape with weight-lifting and cardio workouts.

Koepka was one of only 13 players to make the cut in all four majors and he edged Hideki Matsuyama and Matt Kuchar by a single shot for this important distinction. Nevertheless, there are other matters to attend to; chiefly, the tour's regular-season finale in Greensboro, the Wyndham Championship. Though it sits in the Wanamaker Trophy's shadow and lacks the gravitas of most rank-and-file events, it means a helluva lot to a host of players, as this week's competition at Sedgefield CC is the last chance to gain entry into the FedEx Cup and, more importantly, earn their card for next season.
The top 125 are given these exclusive invites, while those unable to cross the threshold (who don't already have exemption status) face a trip to the Web.com Tour Finals to secure tour entry for 2017-18. Here are the souls currently sweating out the FedEx Cup bubble this week in North Carolina:

Playing host is Sedgefield Country Club, the only Donald Ross design that hosts a regular PGA Tour event besides the TOUR Championship, held at East Lake Golf Club.
It's the last chance for players on the bubble of the FedEx Cup top 125 to jockey for position and earn a spot in the Northern Trust next week. Names currently hovering on that bubble that are in this week's field include 2006 U.S. Open champ Geoff Ogilvy (125th), 2010 U.S. Open champ Graeme McDowell (131st) and three-time PGA Tour winner Ryan Palmer (128th).
Henrik Stenson is the only player in the field ranked inside the top-10 in the world, but names like Kevin Kisner, Davis Love III, Webb Simpson, Jason Dufner and Billy Horschel are also in Greensboro this week. Defending champion Si Woo Kim is not in the field.
