The Loop’s not-so-expert 2019 March Madness bracket
The NCAA Tournament is here, and with it a carefully primped and prepped parade of “expert” brackets engineered in labs by men in rubber gloves with biochemistry degrees. You'll pour over these for hours—days even—until your eyes are crossed and your scrolling finger sore, but try as you might, your bracket will never live up to its studio-grade counterparts. There's just a little too much scribbling and a little too much emotion—too much crippling self-doubt and counter-productive tinkering. By the time you finally settle on a champ at 11:59 a.m. on Thursday morning, chances are your bracket will look more like a Jackson Pollock than the field of 64; a rainbow splatter of blood, ink, tears, and perhaps even other bodily fluids. So in that spirit, we here at The Loop decided to unveil our very own Not-So-Expert Bracket**, a show of solidarity with the clueless college basketball masses and a friendly reminder that losing to Jeff the IT guy year-in, year-out is supposed to be,..
The Sacramento Kings, a 3.5-point favorite, led by 25 points in the fourth quarter. They lost outright
Ezra ShawThis post is much more about an appreciation for D'Angelo Russell's performance than it is a gambling post. That said, if you had the Sacramento Kings -3.5, you might want to sit the next couple plays out. That said x2, if you're betting NBA hoop while the first four NCAA Tournament games are there for the taking, you need to be better. I for one went 2-0 on the Belmont vs. Temple game, and I have now figured out sports betting. Sorry Vegas, it's a wrap for you.
Let's break this travesty down.
The Brooklyn Nets, losers of three straight on the road, did not appear like they'd snap out of it in the first quarter on the road in Sacramento. The Kings led 38-25 at the end of the first, and while the Nets were able to cut that deficit to as little as five in the second quarter, they still trailed by eight going into halftime. You're not even close to feeling good yet if you're a Kings backer, but you're also certainly not mad being up ei..
It’s junior phenom Akshay Bhatia’s first PGA Tour start and he’s already talking trash to tour pros
Jamie Squire/Getty ImagesWe’ve had our eye on amateur Akshay Bhatia for quite some time now. At least since we labeled him a “junior phenom” two summers ago when he melted the 72-hole scoring record at the Junior PGA Championship, the first in a series of “did he just do that?” moments that have marked the 17-year-old’s nascent competitive career. We won’t go through them all, but they include more crazy low scores, a historic repeat win thanks to an insane chip-in eagle and revelations into just what a golf geek the lanky lefty from Wake Forest, N.C, really is.
Suffice it to say, then, we’re awaiting anxiously for 2:31 p.m. on Thursday to see the 2018 AJGA boys player of the year tee it up for the first time in a PGA Tour event at the Valspar Championship, playing alongside Chase Wright and Kramer Hickok. How will the high schooler who hopes to play on the U.S. Walker Cup team later this fall and then will likely turn pro, stack up in his first face-to-face clash with the game’s best ..
Step-by-Step Slice Fix
A lot of golfers struggle with a slice from the first time they pick up a club. Before long, everything they do in their setup and swing becomes a reaction to seeing shots that curve to the right. In this video series, we examine the root causes of the slice and the quickest cures.
