British Open 2018: A “hungover” Eddie Pepperell nearly won the claret jug

David CannonCARNOUSTIE, Scotland — British Open winners are expected to throw back a few celebratory beverages. Heck, the trophy is a freaking wine jug. But while the drinking is supposed to come after the completion of the final round, one man's choice to booze the night before nearly resulted in a first major title.

Eddie Pepperell wound up finishing tied for sixth at the 147th Open Championship, but for awhile, his five under par total looked pretty good with just about everyone other than Francesco Molinari struggling at Carnoustie on Sunday. Brian BahrOn Saturday, the Anaheim Ducks finally came to their senses, unveiling a third alternate jersey that features the franchise's old Mighty Ducks logo, also known as the GOAT of sports team logos. Why they ever went away from it in favor of their current, black and orange monstrosities is still a mystery. Unfortunately, the switch proved to be a good one, as the Ducks went on to win the Stanley Cup that same season they made the change, which is part of the reason they've never gone back to the old logo.
