World’s greatest soccer fan watches game from rented crane following stadium ban

When life gives you lemons, sell them and rent a crane. Or so goes the guiding mantra of one Turkish soccer fan, who, after being handed a 12-month stadium ban by his beloved Denizlispor FC, did what any self-respecting die-hard would: He rented a crane so he could watch his team's crucial relegation battle against Gaziantepspor from his own personal, semi-legal skybox.

Now we want to be careful about calling this man a hero. You have to be a pretty big asshole to get banned from your home stadium for a year and for all we know he was spewing vile racist garbage or taping tiny mirrors to the tips of his shoes. BUT, in the absence of any such allegations, we have to admit this the boss move of all boss moves. Police were soon on hand to remove the man from his angelic perch, but clearly his never-say-die at..

This video of the biggest wave ever surfed is more terrifying than ‘Jaws’

Think of your sports' most terrifying theater—the big one at Talladega, an unblocked Lawerence Taylor, Jake Brown dropping from the damn sky. That's what Nazare is to surfing. A holy ground of trial and tempest, each year big wave surfers from around the globe gather at the Portuguese hot bed to risk life and limb in pursuit of death, demons, or, most likely, some combination of the two.
If that sounds dramatic, that's because careening down an 80-foot, ship-killing water-scraper on what essentially amounts to a toothpick is, in fact, pretty dramatic. But don't take our word for it. You won't find us within 100 yards of the Nazare breakers. Just ask Rodrigo Koxa, who laid claim to the largest wave ever surfed in the history of humankind when the footage of his November descent premiered at the World Surf League Big Wave Awards this weekend:
What you see here is a Brazilian maniac dropping into the tsunami-manifestation of Davy Jones's locker, and somehow l..

Sixers-Celtics is basketball’s version of good vs. evil

Tim BradburyI've gushed about the Sixers on this site before, at length, and I'm not sure how much more my editor would tolerate, so let me sum up in one sentence: Label-defying, possibly historical point guard, excellent and hilarious big man, quirky Europeans, J.J. Redick in his “fully cool” second stage of life, unlikely genius coach who started in Melbourne, and famous, crooked path to being actually good. They're the best. And in the second round of the NBA playoffs, starting Monday night, they're going to meet…
The Boston Celtics.
(Cue Star Wars “Imperial March” music.)
Whether or not you agree that all things related to Boston sports are inherently evil (note: they are), here are seven reasons to specifically hate the 2018 version of the Celtics.
1. Brad Stevens, their boy genius coach, is secretly out to ruin NBA basketball. He forged his success at Butler by bludgeoning his opponents with the specifically NCAA-ish pug-ugly version of the sport. You know w..

Little Leaguer walking to home plate as slow as humanly possible will either warm your heart or make your blood boil

A Little Leaguer went viral for walking to home plate as slowly as humanly possible over the weekend. Was he injured? No. Was he making a statement about the plodding pace of Major League Baseball games? We wish. Turns out, he was merely told by his coach to run home as fast as possible, so he did the opposite. Obviously. Kids!

The resulting video will either warm your heart or make your blood boil. Not only does this dude robotically strut all the way home (we're assuming this was on a walk with the bases loaded), but he brushes off his coach who tries to move him along, and then he falls onto the plate for emphasis. What a showman. Check it out:

Just how long did it take for this little tyke to score? The video starts with him about one-third of the way down the baseline (You can see there's already another teammate on third base) and go..

Lydia Ko wins at Lake Merced with playoff eagle

DALY CITY, Calif. (AP) Lydia Ko hit a 3-wood to 3 feet for eagle to finish off Minjee Lee on the first hole of a playoff Sunday in the chilly LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship

Ko won her 15th LPGA Tour title and first since July 2016, a 43-event stretch marked by changes in instructors, caddies and equipment and a large weight loss.

”It’s a huge relief because people are like, `Hey, because of this you’re not winning, because of that you’re not winning. Actually, I tried to stay away from all the media and everything that was being said about me and tried to just focus on what was going on in front.”

Five days after turning 21, the New Zealander won for the third time at Lake Merced after taking the Swinging Skirts LPGA at the tree-lined layout in 2014 and 2015.

”It’s crazy because I was 3 over for the day at one stage and I said, `Hey, you’ve just got to focus and you never know what’s going to happen,”’ Ko said. ”I was able to kind of put my game together on..
