Someone forgot to tell the city of Kansas City the Royals had a game on Wednesday

G. Newman Lowrance(Photo by G. Newman Lowrance/Getty Images)Kansas City fancies itself a baseball town. The Royals did win the World Series in 2015, made the Fall Classic the year before. It does boast one of the sport's best museums, played a small part in that sweet highlight of George Brett going bananas for getting caught cheating, and perhaps best of all, it's not St. Louis.
But being a baseball town means showing up when things aren't going well, and on that front, the Paris of the Plains falls decidedly short.
The Royals have been in a rut, DFL in the American League with a 9-20 record, and a performance that's showed at the turnstile. With almost a fifth of the season in the books, the Royals are averaging a measly 14,923 fans per game. Only Miami and Tampa—Major League Baseball's equivalent of abandoned gas stations—rank lower in attendance.
If this picture from ESPN's Jeff Passan to be believed, that figure will likely drop following Wednesday&#0..

Keith Mitchell’s reaction to Phil Mickelson falling asleep in front of his locker wins internet blue ribbon

It's Wednesday and over at Quail Hollow, the Tour's best and brightest are putting the finishing touches on their Wells Fargo Championship prep. For many, that means another range sesh, one last check of the ol' yardage book, and perhaps a round in the Pro-Am, but for Phil Mickelson—exhausted by his recent and vigorous calf workouts—it's nap time. Ah, the perks of being a legend.
There's no problem with a 48-year-old man “resting his eyes” a bit before walking 18, of course, but unfortunately for Kevin Kyle Keanu Keith Mitchell, Phil decided to catch some Zs directly in front of his locker, leaving the 2019 Honda Classic champ hopelessly unsure of what to do about the five-time Major champion curled up on top of his stuff. Being the rational modern man that he is, Mitchell turned to Instagram for help:

In the post, Mitchell lays out his three increasingly desperate options:
1.) Wake up Phil and get put in a chokehold when his karate ins..

Mets fan calls into morning radio show to give Chase Utley a piece of her mind, is still very mad at him

Less than four years ago, the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers squared off in one of the more heated MLB Playoff series in recent memory. Following a Game 1 victory in L.A. by the Mets, the Dodgers bounced back in Game 2, winning 5-2 to tie up the series 1-1. Rather than talk about a stellar performance from then Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke that set up a pivotal Game 3 back in Queens, all of the discussion revolved around a controversial play in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Mets fans certainly don't want or need a recap, but for those who don't recall, former Phillies legend and Mets-killer Chase Utley, who had been traded to the Dogers that August, was inserted into the game to pinch hit for Greinke. With the Dodgers trailing 2-1, Utley singled, setting up a situation where L.A. had runners on first and third with just one out. The next batter, Howie Kendrick, line..

Lachlan CunninghamHAYWARD, CA – AUGUST 03: Stephen Curry plays his tee shot on the fourteenth hole during round one of the Ellie Mae Classic at TCP Stonebrae on August 3, 2017 in Hayward, California. (Photo by Lachlan Cunningham/Getty Images)Steph Curry is a scratch golfer—not to mention one of the best NBA players his generation—but he even admits to being “haunted” by golf at times, just like many of us.
The Golden State Warriors guard has a new Facebook Watch show, “Stephen vs. The Game,” which debuts Thursday on the social-media platform. But we got an advance look—and you can watch the clip below. The show will follow Curry around in the offseason after the Warriors' sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but we were most intrigued by the golf aspects, which you'll hear below.
Just like many of us, Steph has a huge appreciation of Tiger Woods' success. We know Steph is obsessed with golf—but he gives us an idea of just how crazy he is about the game in this video
