This photo essay of items left on the Talladega infield is a triumph of modern art

Sean GardnerShort of Daytona, there's no more anticipated stop on the NASCAR circuit than Talladega Superspeedway, where fans turn out in droves each year to drink in the fastest speeds and biggest wrecks in stock car racing. There are the packed grandstands, of course, but the true action happens on the infield/campground/anything-goes RV mecca, where fans party for days on end in the build up to the 500-mile hellride. It's a fascinating snapshot of racing culture, tons of free advertising for Busch, and one of the most raucous scenes in sports, but as these surreal photos from the day after this year's GEICO 500 prove, the wake of the storm paints just as vivid a picture as the hurricane itself.

Guy Fieri plans to convince Kevin Durant to stay with the Warriors by cooking him off-the-chain grub

Alexander TamargoGuy Fieri is a walking, talking power move. He drives red Camaro convertibles, wears bowling shirts engulfed in flames, and has frosted tips in the year 2019. He's made millions of dollars eating diner cheeseburgers, laughs in the face of heart disease on a daily basis, and is still down with Smash Mouth. The man oozes confidence out of every shiny pore and if anyone is to rescue Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors from their inevitably diverged futures, it's going to be him, the Brisket Avenger.
How does Fieri plan to accomplish that feat—to turn back time and save Bay Area basketball from its ashy demise? By leading a daring expedition to the heart of Flavortown, of course. Here's what Fieri had to say about his desire to see KD remain in Golden State in a recent interview with GQ:
Call me, KD. Tell me what you need. [laughs] If there is a such thing
as an inspiration dinner that I need to cook to bring all the
dignitaries together—all the playe..

Did Kyle Lowry really attempt this absurdly dumb move with the game on the line?

Vaughn RidleyOn Monday night in Toronto, the Philadelphia 76ers were in control late in Game 2 of their second-round series with the Raptors. In a win they didn't desperately need but certainly wanted before heading back to Philly, Jimmy Butler rose to the occasion, scoring 30 points, the last two of which gave the Sixers a 90-84 lead with 1:42 remaining. Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry answered, hitting his second straight three to cut the lead to 90-87.

The Raptors then got the quick stop they needed, and power forward Pascal Siakam made a layup after grabbing a pair of offensive rebounds on the possession. Suddenly it was a one-point game, one that would surely yield “PHILLY COLLAPSED!” takes from everyone if they let one get away and fell in a 2-0 hole in the series.
But Joel Embiid responded with a dominant drive to the rim that looked basically impossible to defend, extending Philly's lead back to three at 92-89 w..
