Judge gives Craig Carton a savage greeting in court before handing out jail sentence

Raymond HallFormer WFAN radio personality Craig Carton received a 42-month prison on Friday for his involvement in an illegal ticket-selling scheme, but he also got something he wasn't expecting from U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon: a pretty savage greeting.

“Hello, Mr. Carton. Colleen M. from New York. First time, long time.”
Ouch. Those “Ira from Staten Island” calls must seem like a dream now, huh?
Actually, the greeting wasn't as bad as it sounds. Judge McMahon claims she used to listen to Carton's former morning program, “Boomer & Carton,” on her way to work so she may have been a fan. Or, at least, a fan of Boomer Esiason. And she could have doled out a six-to-seven-year sentence set forth by federal guidelines and being sought by prosecutors against the 50-year-old New Yorker. But make no mistake about it, her honor wasn't messing around in a Manhattan courtroom.

Phil Kessel wins entire arena Big Macs, is an American hero

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Phil Kessel looks like the furthest thing from a prototypical athlete, which makes the fact he's one of the most prolific scorers in the National Hockey League all the more astounding. This 205-pound, pasty white guy with a scraggly beard can fly up and down the ice and score goals with the best of 'em, which has made him into a cult hero of sorts. Pictures like this factor into that cult status, as they are often shared on social media any time Kessel does something noteworthy:
FacebookPinterestFacebookPinterestYou may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like. Kessel has 82 points on the year, scoring 27 goals and dishing 55 assists for the playoff-bound Pens. Two of those goals came on Thursday night against the Detroit Red Wings, a game Pittsburgh won 4-1 at PPG Paints Arena. As if that weren't enough cause for celebration, Kessel's second goal came during the “Big Mac Attack,” a promotion that states if the Penguins s..

Masters 2019: A highly subjective ranking of the last 33 Masters-winning putts, from ho hum to holy sh**

Between the collapses, the triumphs and leader board jockeying, Masters Sunday provides enough stress and anxiety for an entire year, let alone four hours on an April afternoon. The action is fast, furious and often heart-stopping. There is no Sunday like it in the sport, and that's really not up for debate.
RELATED: What if millennials ran the Masters?
But there is one caveat: the highly dramatic happenings rarely ever occur at the 72nd hole. We decided to go back and look at the last 33 Masters, starting with 1986 (which was a decent tournament), and we only watched the winner's final stroke of the day. What we found is that the ending of Bobby Jones' small gathering of friends is often very anticlimactic, which isn't a bad thing. It makes the rare occasions when the week's proceedings come down to the final hole all the more special. If every year the Masters ended on a heart-attack-inducing birdie putt, the moment would soon lose a lot of its luster. All we..

Masters 2019: You have one day at Augusta National. Here’s how to spend it

Augusta NationalPatrons wait for the gates to open during Practice Round 1 at Augusta National Golf Club on Monday, April 4, 2016. (Photo by Charles Laberge/Augusta National via Getty Images)Praise to the golf gods, it happened. It finally happened. After years of filling out lottery forms, calling in favors and praying to a picture of Byron Nelson, you have your hands on a Masters badge. Good things do happen to good people.
But the day has now come, and you're overwhelmed. You don't know how you're going to be able to see everything you want to see, buy everything you want to buy, or if the human body can take that much pimento cheese in one day. Fear not; below is an itinerary to make sure you make the most of your Augusta National pilgrimage. Here's how to spend your one day at the Masters.
Night before: Hydrate. The day ahead will be long, you're going to (hopefully) be in the sun and Augusta National's topography has never been confused with Kansas. ..

Atlanta Braves Twitter has a deeply strange fixation with Tiger Woods

Stan BadzOn Thursday night, the Atlanta Braves beat up on the Chicago Cubs 9-4. Around the MLB, the story was the struggling Cubs, who—off to a 1-5 start in what was supposed to be a pivotal year for the Maddon administration—have looked disinterested at best and just not very good at worst. But brewing beneath the Cubs' bare-bones final score communique was something far stranger (and far more fascinating) than the 2016 World Series champs suddenly sucking. There, in the bowels of baseball Twitter, Braves fans had amassed in force, inundating the Cubs' mentions with seemingly endless river of Tiger Woods memes presented sans context, meaning and logic. Let's get weird.

Ramon Laureano is now a part owner of the Boston Red Sox after his latest ROCKET to get a runner at third

On Wednesday we praised Oakland Athletics outfielder Ramon Laureano for his latest heat-seeking missile from center to get Xander Bogaerts out at third base. It's one of many throws that Laureano added to his already legendary huge highlight reel despite the fact he didn't start playing in the MLB until last August. It also wasn't the first time he had gunned down a Boston Red Sox runner on the basepaths in their early-season series, and it wasn't the last either.
On Thursday, once again in the top of the ninth, this time with a four-run lead, Boston was threatening to start a rally. Leadoff hitter Mookie Betts reached on a walk, bringing left fielder Andrew Benintendi to the plate with no outs. Benintendi blooped one into center field that dropped in between Laureano and A's shortstop Marcus Semien. “This could be trouble,” was how the A's broadcaster described it, and it was, as Mookie rounded second and started hustling to third to get in better scoring..

Phil Mickelson one-ups Tiger Woods with crazy video of his Masters-esque putting green

On Thursday, GOLFTV released an interview with Tiger Woods in which he says he gets his backyard practice green running at 14 or 15 on the stimpmeter to prepare for Augusta National's slick putting surfaces next week. On Thursday night, Phil Mickelson posted a video actually showing how fast his putting green is playing right now.

It could have been a coincidence, but we prefer to think Phil was trying to one-up his longtime rival like he did in November's THE MATCH. He certainly seemed to in his caption that says his green is actually running at about a 16 on the stimpmeter. Ooooo boy. That's some high-level golf nerd trash talk right there! Anyway, here's the video, which is also somewhat of a trick shot:

And while Tiger and Phil are engaged in a good old fashioned stimp-off, Justin Thomas is getting ready for next week's Masters by playing Frogger. We'l..
