This Johnny Miller tribute video will make you realize how much you’ll miss him in the booth

Saturday at the Waste Management Phoenix Open is arguably the most fun day on the professional golf calendar, with the exception of moving day at all four majors (had to add that before all the purists and WMPO haters jump down my throat). This weekend at TPC Scottsdale will be no different, but there will be a dark cloud of sadness hanging over golf fans' heads throughout NBC's coverage of the third round, as it will be Johnny Miller's final broadcast from the analyst chair.

For the most part, the golf world will be sad to see him go, as we're seeing in many of the tributes being written about Miller this week, all of them praising the “Desert Fox” and his incredible golfing and broadcasting career. But Johnny had plenty of haters, a lot of them actually. Some of those haters might even be thrilled to see him sign off for one final time on Saturday evening, but deep down, in places they don't talk about at parties they W..

Enes Kanter finally sees action, kisses MSG floor and promptly airballs first shot

With the New York Knicks in full-tank mode, the few veterans on the roster have seen a significant drop in playing time, as coach David Fizdale has opted to give more run to the young players to “get them more experience.” Translation: the more we lose, the closer we get to Zion Williamson. It's a brilliant plan that's currently working overtime, as the Knicks have now fallen to 10-40, including losses in 35 of their last 38 following a stupid three-game winning streak around Thanksgiving.
Knicks center Enes Kanter is not really buying into the plan, nor should he. It's understandable that he wants to play, and the best thing would be to trade him to a team that could use his offensive production. Instead, he's still on the roster, and Fizdale has benched him in seven of the last eight games, including four straight. Rather than suck it up, Kanter has decided to make himself the story daily with some stupid quote about how he should be playing and how he loves New Y..

Throwback Thursday: That time Tiger Woods had his gallery perform manual labor and move a boulder

There are all the obvious reasons why it's good to be Tiger Woods — oodles of cash, 80 tour wins, free shoes from Nike. And then there are the less obvious ones—like if you happen to land a tee shot behind a boulder, you can easily recruit enough spectators to move the boulder for you.
This actually happened, as you probably recall. The USGA certainly does. Playing the Phoenix Open in 1999 — two years after he famously aced the par-3 16th hole in the tournament — Woods drove his tee shot on the par-5 13th hole left and behind a boulder.

Without much of a shot to the green, Woods inquired whether the boulder was a loose impediment and could be moved. When the answer was yes, Woods enlisted members of his gallery, including then-caddie Mike “Fluff” Cowan, for their help.

With the boulder moved back, Woods was given a clear shot to the green. He got home in two and made birdie, but still finished thre..

World Long Drive competitor snaps driver in half during first warmup session of the year, which isn’t the best omen

The World Long Drive season doesn't start until late March, but that didn't stop competitor Kevin Shook from beginning training on Tuesday in the backyard of his home in Bradenton, Florida. Shook, like the rest of us, probably began his warmup full of optimism, going through the “this is going to be my best year yet!” routine we all do after those first few hacks. Unfortunately for Shook, one of those hacks was a bit too strong, and we hope it's not a bad omen for his upcoming season.

Shook, who advanced to the semifinals of the Bluff City Shootout last June, posted a swing video from his first training session of the year to his Instagram account on Tuesday. The caption read: “First day of training for the long drive season and… there goes my gamer.” I think you know what happens next:

Three-time PGA Tour winner risks frostbite to hit shot in minus 45-degree wind chill

No matter where golf has taken him, Jerry Kelly has always repped his native Wisconsin. The three-time PGA Tour winner still lives in the Cheese State, is buds with Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers, and, despite playing collegiately at the University of Hartford, bleeds red for his beloved Badgers. Then again, it's possible the 52-year-old actually has ice running through his veins after what he did on Wednesday morning.

In the midst of the polar vortex that has made much of the country hostages in their homes, Kelly stepped outside to hit a golf shot in minus-45-degree win chill conditions. And he did it wearing shorts and short sleeves. Check it out:

That looked like a pure strike off the ice—like Kelly's days as an All-City hockey selection at Madison East High. We just hope he's OK. Even tough hockey guys aren't immu..
