A question about the place of golf on a day like 9/11 really depends on what your view of the game is in the first place.

This possibly homicidal MotoGP rider is your sports villain of the week/year/decade
Maybe you don't remember Road Rash. It's a little obscure, which doesn't exactly make for great opening paragraph reference material, but it was a '90s racing video game franchise that blended open roads, Soundgarden jams, Easy Ridin' choppers, and PvP combat—including chain-wrapped fists, baseball bats, and more—into a glorious Tipper Gore-triggering whole. At very first blush, that's what this almost unthinkable MotoGP highlight from the weekend reminds me of:

But then you watch it. And then you watch it again. And then you realize that grabbing another rider's handbrake at 140 MPH (!) mid-motorcycle race is really less of a nostalgia trip and more of an actual, prosecutable crime.
Allegedly, the whole thing began a few turns before, when Stefano Manzi ran Romano Fenati off the track in a failed pass attempt. Fenati, apparently enraged by the overtake, then roared back alongside Manzi, misplaced ..
Tiger Woods’ red baggy sweater joyously brought Twitter down memory lane
Tiger Woods began his final round five shots back of Justin Rose at the BMW Championship. Coupled with a convoy of stars between the two, it seemed unlikely that Aronimink would be the site of Woods' first PGA Tour victory since 2013.
Until, that is, Woods was seen on the practice range. Or, more specifically, the red, baggy sweater he was rocking.
Nostalgia has been front and center during Tiger's latest comeback, and Monday's ensemble evoked similar sentiments. Recalling a time where Woods simply rolling out of bed put the field at a three-shot disadvantage, where 80 tour wins wasn't so much an aspiration but a forgone conclusion, and Woods, in image and person, was unassailable.
If that sounds like fluff, well, clearly you haven't been on Twitter, which was joyously brought down memory lane by Woods' cardigan:

Rory McIlroy prank calls Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn to the delight of his teammates
As good as Rory McIlroy is at driving a golf ball, he might be just as good at driving a car. The four-time major champ safely chauffeured around three of his Ryder Cup teammates after the third round of the BMW Championship while making a prank call to captain Thomas Bjorn. Oh yeah, McIlroy is apparently pretty adept at prank calls as well. The guy is a sneak-good actor on the phone.
Watch and listen as McIlroy asks the captain about getting $20,000 cryotherapy chambers for everyone on the team heading to France later this month. McIlroy tells Bjorn that they could provide the squad with an edge because they're great for recovery, but adds they're also good for weight loss, a line that particularly cracks up CoolSculpting pitch man Ian Poulter in the back seat. Check it out:
