Stephen Curry loses golf bet to his dad, jumps into a freezing cold Lake Tahoe
Stephen Curry is the leader of Golden State's “Splash Brothers,” but he made a different type of splash on Sunday. A very cold one, in fact.
RELATED: Why Stephen Curry was the real NBA Finals MVP
The two-time NBA MVP made a side bet with his dad Dell during the American Century Championship that he would finish 20 points ahead of him on the leader board. And despite Steph's best efforts — he nearly holed out from 115 yards on his final hole — the younger Curry paid the price of jumping into a freezing Lake Tahoe. Check it out:

Curry finished the event tied for 11th place with 50 points under the modified stableford scoring format. Former Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo took the title with 71 points. And left Lake Tahoe a lot drier.

A Jordan Spieth-inspired “Go Get That” ball-marker is now being sold—so we can all mimic his memorable gesture at the 2017 Open
Of course, there was Jordan Spieth's miraculous recovery at No. 13 and memorable navigation of the driving range at Birkdale last year en route to his victory. Golf fans will also always associate Spieth's gesture to caddie Michael Greller to grab his holed eagle putt out of the cup at the 15th hole, and yelling at Greller to “Go Get That,” as one of the more compelling aspects of his maiden Open title.
The folks at Seamus Golf, who make hand-crafted accessories and golf bags, have released a ball-marker to mark the one-year anniversary of Spieth's win and that hilarious exchange between him and his caddie. You can now flash that “Go Get That” phrase on the greens on your own.
FacebookPinterestJust remember, you probably can't get away with yelling at your caddie and asking them to pluck your ball from the hole. But having the phrase on your ball-marker? That's harmless enough, for sure. We can dig it. We can recall several times over the past year, especially ..

Tony Romo rallies to win celebrity golf tournament
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Nev. (AP) Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo rallied from four points back to win his first American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe on Sunday.
Romo, who retired after the 2016 NFL season and is now an NFL analyst, had 27 points on the day to beat three-time defending champion Mark Mulder and San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski, the the leader after the first two rounds.
”It’s a special win,” said Romo, who had finished second three times in seven previous trips to the annual celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. ”It feels like you’re playing a tournament back home here. The day felt good for a lot of reasons.”
Romo tapped in for par, worth one point, on the 18th hole to finish with 71 points, three ahead of Mulder, the former major league pitcher. He then caught a flight to Berlin, Wis., where he was to compete in a 36-hole U.S. Amateur qualifying tournament on Monday.

Singh tops Maggert in playoff at Senior Players Championship
HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (AP) Vijay Singh hit a perfect approach to set up the winning playoff birdie. His celebration as the ball rolled into the cup was nowhere near as spectacular.
Singh closed the door on Jeff Maggert on the second playoff hole to win the Constellation Senior Players Championship on Sunday, giving an understated fist pump as his birdie putt dropped from about 2 feet. It was the first major title on the PGA Tour Champions for the 55-year-old Fijian, a past winner of the Masters and two PGA Championships.
”It’s a little different,” Singh said. ”It’s a senior major, you know, so it’s – any time you win a tournament no matter what it is, you feel accomplishment, and that’s what I feel. I feel like I played well, and it’s a win. A win is a win.”
Singh (67) and Maggert (68) finished at 20-under 268 at Exmoor Country Club. Brandt Jobe (66) was two strokes behind, while Jerry Kelly (64) and defending champion Scott McCarron (71) finished at 17 under.

Suwannapura gets first LPGA Tour win at Marathon Classic
SYLVANIA, Ohio (AP) Thidapa Suwannapura’s main focus going into the Marathon Classic was trying to put together four solid rounds that would help her keep her LPGA Tour card.
She doesn’t have to worry about that any longer.
Suwannapura picked up her first win on Sunday, closing with a 6-under 65 and birdieing the first playoff hole to defeat Brittany Lincicome at Highland Meadows.
In the playoff, Suwannapura converted a short birdie putt after Lincicome hit her second shot into a water hazard and scrambled for par.
”I never expect it was going to be today at all. I’ve just been struggling the whole year,” said Suwannapura, whose previous best finish was seventh at the 2014 Kingsmill Championship. ”Finally all my work I’ve been doing has come out and shown up today. After I knocked that last putt in, it just felt like a dream come true.”
With the win, the 25-year-old Thai player has an exemption through the 2020 season. She is also the sixth first-time winner on tour this year

Kim wins John Deere Classic in record-breaking runaway
SILVIS, Ill. (AP) Michael Kim didn’t just win his first PGA Tour event on Sunday. He dominated in a fashion never seen at TPC Deere Run.
Kim’s prizes? A little over a million bucks, a two-year exemption on tour and a trip to the British Open.
Kim shot a final-round 66 on Sunday to win the John Deere Classic by a record-setting eight strokes. Kim, who turned 25 on Saturday, finished at 27-under 257 to break Steve Stricker’s tournament record from 2010 by one shot.
Kim also qualified for next week’s Open at Carnoustie – an unexpected bonus for a player who had missed five of his last six cuts before his breakthrough in the Quad Cities.
Kim also made 30 birdies for the week, a season high on tour in 2018.
”To be able to finish out in style like this, it means a lot,” said Kim, who nearly quadrupled his season earnings with a winner’s share of $1.044 million. ”To be sitting here with a trophy, I’m at a loss for words.”
