Oklahoma State wins national title at home

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma State put Zach Bauchou in the anchor match Wednesday as the Cowboys set out to try to claim another NCAA golf title, this time on their home course.

The last one out turned out to be the first to finish.

Bauchou’s record-tying rout set the tone for Oklahoma State, which rolled over Alabama to win the NCAA men’s golf championship at Karsten Creek.

The Cowboys won three matches without any of them getting past the 15th hole, and the celebration was on.

”I was the last out, but the first in, and that was pretty cool,” Bauchou said after his 8-and-7 victory over Jonathan Hardee in the anchor match. He matched the most lopsided win since the NCAA switched to match play in 2009. ”I got to see a couple of the other guys finish up. I just want to give credit to the other four guys here. They played so well all week.”

The No. 1 team in golf ended the season with a national championship.

US Women’s Open field battling wet conditions, each other

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Inbee Park’s 12th U.S. Women’s Open already stands out for a gloomy reason: the rain-soaked course at Shoal Creek.

The picturesque course in suburban Birmingham had been drenched by nearly five inches of rain this week as of Wednesday afternoon, with the effects of Subtropical Storm Alberto adding onto earlier rains.

”This is probably the wettest conditions I have ever seen in a U.S. Women’s Open,” said Park, a Korean who won in 2008 and 2013. ”We just don’t know what’s going to happen.

Practice rounds were canceled Tuesday and the course closed, other than some late-afternoon trips to the driving range. More rain followed overnight and into Wednesday on the eve of the major championship , when ..

We here at The Loop are curious folk. Thus, when we gathered three golfers of varying skill levels to test how alcohol affects their game earlier this spring, we left unsatisfied. But we couldn't help but wonder: How would marijuana impact your game by comparison?
To the answer that question, we packed our bags and headed for the sunny, free-lovin' fairways of California, where weed, ganja, grass, Mary Jane, and Jeff Goldbloom (OK, we made that last one up) is not only legal, but an inextricable part of everyday life. Once there, we set up the same test: Three players—Jack, a high handicap, Scott, a mid handicap, and Willie, a low handicap—track their driving, approach play, and putting, only this time while consuming marijuana instead of alcohol. When the air cleared and the smoke settled, here&#0..
