THE COLONY, Texas (AP) The LPGA Texas Classic has been cut to 54 holes and the start of the postponed first round has been delayed 7 hours because of rain.

The first round was postponed from Thursday after only 34 of the 144 golfers completed one or two holes because of morning rain and afternoon wind.

If play begins Friday, it will be done without fans because of conditions on the course and unpaved parking areas.

This will be the LPGA Tour’s first event reduced from 72 holes to 54 since the Evian Championship in France last September.

The field features Brittany Lincicome, Jin Young Ko, Brooke M. Henderson, Moriya Jutanugarn and Lydia Ko.

Tiger shoots 73 to stay inside cut line at Quail Hollow

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Tiger Woods has been at Quail Hollow four days, apparently still not enough time to adjust to the greens.

He at least should get two more days to figure it out.

Woods made his only birdie on his final hole Friday in the Wells Fargo Championship, an 18-foot putt on the par-4 ninth hole. He stretched out both arms in mock celebration after his 2-over 73 that got him just inside the cut line.

”My feels aren’t used to greens at this pace,” Woods said. ”I feel more comfortable on faster greens. I’ve had ample time to make the adjustment, and I just haven’t. I haven’t felt comfortable hitting the putts as hard as we have to hit them this week.”

Woods has taken 64 putts over two rounds and was at 2-over 144.

He was six shots out of the lead in his half of the draw, and Quail Hollow wasn’t letting anyone go terribly low. Even so, Woods hasn’t given himself enough good chances to make up ground over dozens of players ahead of him.

Lance McCullers Jr. latest Houston Astros player to be accused of cheating, quickly shuts everyone up on Twitter

I'll be the first to admit that after Charlie Morton embarrassed the New York Yankees on Monday night, touching 99 MPH on the gun and throwing a wiffle-ball-esque slider in the process, I thought there was a legitimate case the Astros were cheating. It was mostly the thoughts of being a salty Yankees fan, but Morton looking like a Cy Young candidate this year, in addition to the second half of last year and the postseason, has to raise some eyebrows. Morton was a mediocre, middle-of-the-rotation pitcher at best during his time with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and yet suddenly he becomes the second coming of Nolan Ryan with the Houston Astros.
Then, the following night, Justin Verlander was up to his usual tricks, striking out 14 Yankee batters and continuing his dominance as an Astro. Earlier that day, Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer had already grabbed headlines (as he often does) for insinuating something was up in Houston. Suddenly everyone's claims had some merit, with..

Vlad Guerrero Jr., Tim Tebow homer in same game. Guess which one went further

The last time we checked in on Vlad Guerrero Jr., the 19-year-old prodigy smashed a walk-off homer to deep left center in the Toronto Blue Jays final Spring Training game. By the look of his swing and the buzz he created that night, the kid appeared to be ready for the bigs, but with the Blue Jays already in a good spot at third base with Josh Donaldson, they could afford to keep Vlad Jr. in the minors for awhile.
But Guerrero Jr. is starting to make the case that he's ready for the show well before his 20th birthday, having already collected three homers and 27 RBIs while hitting for a .388 average in his 85 at-bats for Double-A New Hampshire. His third homer came on Thursday night, and it's downright frightening to watch:

Also frightening? That guy saying “WOWWW” in his best, excited Owen Wilson Voice. Chill out dude.
But “WOWW”, what an absolute bullet from Guerrero Jr., one that would look a lot better for Toronto sai..
