Not that the hefty payout is providing any extra motivation for the already very-rich superstar.
“It’s not going to change my life,” said Thomas, 25, who has already amassed more than $30 million in on-course earnings alone as a pro golfer, to say nothing of millions more in lucrative endorsement deals. “It’s unbelievable, and it’s an extremely substantial amount of money, and how FedEx has stepped up to take care of us players is crazy. [But] money has never driven me. I hope it never will. I play to win trophies and win championships and be the best player to ever walk the planet, and that’s all I play for.”

Waaaaay back in July, when the New York Mets were dead and buried and wallowing away in misery, franchise legend Keith Hernandez provided what was likely going to be the best moment of the season for the organization. It's been a brutal year for the Detroit Tigers, historically brutal. It's been so bad that they're a game and a half worse than the Baltimore Orioles, who have at times looked like the worst team in the history of American sport in 2019. But the Tigers continue to out-bad them, the shining example being the play last week when two Detroit outfielders collided when going for a fly ball, causing it to ricochet over the fence.

Prior to first pitch, the Tigers were as high as a +440 underdog while the World Series favorite Houston Astros were a -525 favorite, meaning you'd have to wager $525 on Houston just to win $100. If you bet $100 on the Tigers, you'd win $440.

In not so shocking news, the MLB had to send out a memo warning players about PED use. The shocking part, however, is that the PEDs the memo referred to were not for hitting home runs, but for rounding third and heading home in the bedroom. Ayeeeeeee O!

That's right, according to a report from ESPN MLB writer Jeff Passan, the memo Major League Baseball sent to players was about the use of sexual-enhancement pills, which is apparently very prevalent amongst players. So much so that at least two players were suspended for PEDs this season, and the banned substances found in their urine came from over-the-counter sexual-enhancement pills, which players are often purchasing in gas stations according to Passan's sources.
