Brian Boyle scores 100th career NHL goal, immediately starts fight, continues to dominate life

Even non-NHL fans know Brian Boyle's story by now. In September, the New Jersey Devils center announced that he had been diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia, an uncommon form of blood-cell cancer that begins in the bone marrow but is treatable by medication. In typical hockey player, badass fashion, Boyle was back on the ice on November 1. Eight days later, he scored his first goal as a Devil.
Not surprisingly, Boyle is still dominating life a month later, most recently on Friday night in New Jersey's game at home against the Dallas Stars. Late in the second period, Boyle was the beneficiary of a rebound in front of the net off of a slapshot from Devils defenseman Will Butcher. After finding the back of the net, Boyle took exception with a hit he took from Stars defenseman John Klingberg and tossed a hilarious chirp his way:

In this joyous season, let’s stop sending all these stupid cards

Westend61Woman hanging up Holiday cards for decorationThis weekend I went to buy a birthday card for a 5-year-old, and happened upon an option that cost $7.99. It did not come with anything you’d expect when handing over $7.99, such as a Paw Patrol action figure or a can of tobacco or two Steak N’ Shake meals. It did not emit its own light. It did not play “Who Let the Dogs Out,” which is the only time I’ve ever been disappointed by that sentence. It did not convert into a plane, or a robot, or a member of the MCU. It sat there, doing jack squat, mocking its own luxurious price tag, saying, “This entire card rack is ridiculous, and also 5-year-olds usually can’t read.”
I have never paid $7.99 for a card. I will go to my grave never having paid more than four dollars for a card, and if my children’s children ever pay more than four dollars for a card I will scrape myself out of the ground and haunt the shit out of those people. If I am in need of a card and the store I am in does not co..

How does one golf-obsessed child misspell speech? Pricelessly, as it were

How does a child obviously obsessed with golf spell speech? See for yourself here, via this Tweet posted by a teacher in Kansas City, Mo.
https://twitter.com/em____grace/status/941489092851847169
There is only one possible takeaway from the kid’s spelling error and that is that he’s watching too much golf, though, of course, it is impossible to watch too much golf.
Presumably, when the words rocky and surge come up on a future spelling test, the kid will spell them rickie and sergio. But we digress.
Jordan Spieth’s mother Christine saw the teacher’s Tweet and responded with her own:

We agree on rewarding the child with extra credit and fully understand her reference to spelling the name correctly. It often isn’t, notwithstanding how ubiquitous it has become in golf circles.

Good thing his last name isn't Ooshuizen.
