New documentary about a NYC street golfer nicknamed “Tiger Hood” is surprisingly beautiful

What began as an activity to pass the time while trying to sell his photographs has “become a lifestyle” for Patrick Barr. Better known around the streets of New York City as “Tiger Hood,” Barr now spends much of his days and nights hitting empty milk cartons with a golf club. And he's about to have even bigger galleries watching him in action.

A new documentary titled Neighborhood Golf Association by Nicolas Heller explores Barr's life, career, and mostly his unusual hobby. Heller, the man behind the popular New York Nico Instagram account, does a nice job of showing the charismatic local legend in his element while also getting across Barr's beautiful message of inclusivity.
“For the rest of my life, I just want to play golf and I want to take it worldwide, bro. Worldwide. So everybody can play,” Barr says late in the film. “Not just people on the golf course, man.”
Barr hopes to see friendly competitions..

5,000 golf balls spill onto Wisconsin highway, sending locals scrambling for freebies

Channel 3000Everybody loves a free sleeve or two. Even if they're not your ball of choice—even if they're beneath your lofty Pro-V standards—they just seem to fly a little truer and land a little softer when you know they didn't cost you dime. Just ask the good citizens of Janesville, Wisconsin, who responded to a 5,000-golf ball-spill on nearby Highway 11/14 on Tuesday morning by doing what any rational golfer would: Screeching to a stop and running into the middle of the road to grab everything they could before getting street pizza'd.
FacebookPinterestChannel 3000The spill was first reported by passerby at 12:27 a.m. The sheriff's deputy responding to the scene determined the balls (Nitro, don't get too excited) had indeed fallen off a delivery truck and a street sweeper was called in to push them from the roadway until they could be removed in the morning. That cleanup proved to be quicker than first anticipated, however.
According to local resident Va..

European Tour pro gets revenge on the spike mark that cost him a World Golf Championship

Complaining about a spike mark after missing a putt is a classic tour pro move, but Tyrrell Hatton clearly had good reason to be upset on the 72nd hole of last year's WGC-Mexico Championship. While his tying birdie attempt was still rolling toward the hole, Tyrrell tapped his putter on the spot in disgust, and replays showed his golf ball hopping on the attempt that came up short. A year later, though, Hatton had his revenge. Sort of.
PODCAST: Tyrrell Hatton on harnessing his emotions & his best impulse purchase
In the latest humorous video from the European Tour, Tyrrell revisited the green and tapped down the spike mark. Check it out:

OK, so that probably didn't make Hatton feel better about the potential $1.2 million the bump cost him. The three-time European Tour winner earned $510,500 for finishing tied for third, but Phil Mickelson banked $1.7 million for defeating Justin Thomas in a playoff (Thomas took home ..

Liberty outfielder makes diving-over-the-fence catch for first official web gem of baseball season

It's not even April, and we may already have witnessed the catch of the year in baseball.
How is this possible, you ask? Didn't pitchers and catchers just report? Aren't guys still strolling into Spring Training a tad overweight? Wasn't there some big free agent signing yesterday that Yankee fans are crying about? All of these things are true, and we're still a month away from meaningful professional baseball. College baseball, however, is officially underway.
And while no one really cares about college baseball until the College World Series, or until some kid named Jumbo hits one to the moon, that doesn't mean the sport can't produce SportsCenter top-10-worthy plays in mid-February. On Wednesday, the Liberty Flames played host to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on a frigid day in Lynchburg, Va. In the top of the 4th, Wake Forest batter hit one into foul territory down the field line. Right fielder Ayden Karraker channeled his inner Derek Jeter by hust..

Can this T-shirt solve the slow play crisis?

With slow play lollygagging through everyone's mind again this week, everyone seems to be trying to find a solution to the issue. Some say it's up to the tours to penalize players that take too long, while others say golfers should take responsibility for their own speeds. But there is one tried and true solution dating back to grade school that might fix this problem once and for all: peer pressure.
We all have that one friend that labors for what feels like hours over a four-footer or who has a pre-shot routine you could slow-cook a brisket during. Passive comments and watch-checking may work sometimes, but let's face it, the only way to get your buddy to really hurry up is to bully them into it.
Apparel company BreakingT has started its own campaign to combat expanding round lengths in a newanti-slow play collection. The first shirt in the collection boldly says what was on all our minds watching the final round at Riviera: “Just hit it already!” It's a great not..

John Daly fires shot across Vijay’s bow with his own grueling workout video

A week or two ago, we called Vijay Singh the Ivan Drago of the Champions Tour in response to his viral workout videos, some even executed while wearing a golf glove. But if Vijay is indeed Drago, then who is his Rocky? Well, if this latest training montage is to be believed (and trust us, you have to see it to believe it), then we may finally have our answer.
Ladies and gentlemen, allows us to present John Freakin' Daly.

OK, so maybe Big John's training regimen is a little more Apollo Creed than Rocky Balboa these days—and we all know how that turned out for Apollo when he faced Drago (spoiler alert: he died)—but there's still something to be said for Daly's Margaritaville method. The proverbial carrot has been substituted for the literal Big Mac and the tractor tires for pool tubes. He gets to wear flip flops on the treadmill and take french fry breaks. In other words, there's nothing not to love about..

PGA Tour pro gets burned (literally) by the new shorts policy

Well, that didn't take long. One day after the PGA Tour announced a new rule allowing its players to wear shorts during practice rounds and pro-ams, Ben Crane got burned by the policy. Literally.
RELATED: Ben Crane handled an 8-stroke penalty better than you would have
Competing in this week's Puerto Rico Open, Crane took advantage of being able to shed his pants in the island sun for Tuesday's practice round. But by the looks of it, he didn't apply enough (any?) sunscreen on his legs.

Ouch.
When news of the new PGA Tour policy broke on Monday, some golfers joked about going out and buying shorts. But we're guessing Ben Crane's biggest purchase the rest of the week is going to be some aloe.
Crane's odds to win the tournament were 80 to 1 as of Wednesday morning. It's unclear if Vegas is factoring in his brutal sunburn. That's gotta bump him up to at least 100 to 1.
THE GRIND: Phil M..
