Fresh off reports that a New York Knicks fan is auctioning off his lifetime of fandom for pennies on the dollar, yet another questionable sports purchase has risen from the bowels of eBay: Dale Earnhardt's actual 1990 Winston Cup champion hat. Assuming it's authentic (and the seller has a 100% rating over 118 transactions, so there's no reason to believe it wouldn't be), there's no question this is a pretty incredible piece of sports memorabilia, but just wait until you see the price tag:

And one fan has had enough. So much so that they are putting their fandom up for sale on eBay—and it appears they will get more than $2,000 for it.
Why on earth didn’t I think of this?
As a Knicks fan since the mid-1970s, I have never enjoyed a championship season. Sure, 1994 was fun, but I still get the shakes when I see highlights of John Starks chucking up three-pointers in game 7 against Houston. I remember Charles Smith's three successive misses against the Bulls and Patrick Ewing’s finger roll clanging off the iron. I remember Reggie Miller humiliating us as we choked away a surefire playoff win and Ken “The Animal” Bannister simply wearing a Knicks jersey. Some things you simply can’t unsee.

Instead, it happened at the 39th Golf Digest Editor’s Putter at Morris Country Golf Club and involved yours truly firing scratching out a net 72 to tie for first place (No sandbaggers here!). Either you've seen them on a golf course before, or you've heard horror stories about what can happen. Sadly, a 45-year-old woman from Hilton Head Island found that out on Monday, when she was attacked and killed by an alligator when it attempted to harm her dog.
Beaufort County authorities say Cassandra Cline was walking her dog in the Sea Pines Plantation when the horrific incident occurred. According to officials, the pup got too close to the lagoon where the gator was, and as the woman tried to save the dog, the gator grabbed the dog's leash, and dragged the woman “about 14 feet into the lagoon.” The dog got away without harm. The incident occurred at Wood Duck Road within Sea Pines Plantation, according CNN, citing comments from the sheriff's office.
