Atlanta Braves pitcher gets first career hit—wait, nope, he got thrown out at first by the right fielder

On Monday, a dream came true for Bryse Wilson, when the 20-year-old right-handed pitcher was called up to the big leagues to start for the Atlanta Braves. After pitching 23 games in the minors in 2018, including three for Triple-A Gwinnett, Wilson was thrown into the fire on the road against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was essentially a must-win for Atlanta, a team that had just lost four straight at home to the Colorado Rockies and now found themselves in a pillow fight for first-place in the NL East with the Philadelphia Phillies, a team also going through a losing streak. Good luck, kid!

Wilson, who became the second-youngest player to make his major league debut this season, delivered and then some, pitching five-innings of shut out ball, striking out five batters and giving up just three hits. The only run of the game came in the first from Atlanta on a Nick Markakis RBI s..

Actual Myrtle Beach Kwik-E-Mart to make your ‘Simpsons’ junk-food dreams a reality

Summer may be winding down, but things are just heating up in the novelty t-shirt capital of the Carolinas, where the world's first non-animated Kwik-E-Mart—the donut- and Duff-shilling convenience store of Simpsons lore—has just opened its doors to Springfield buffs across the mid-Atlantic.
While this is most certainly not a drill, it is an elaborate viral marketing stunt for a new Simpsons 4D movie/tourism attraction, premiering this fall at the Simpsons-themed Aztec Theater next door. Fans can purchase ice-cold Buzz Colas, Heat-Lamp Hot Dogs, Lard Lad Donuts, Duff Beer, Flaming Moe's Energy drinks, and Squishees in a variety of thermo-nuclear pigments, all under the watchful eye of a character currently embroiled in a racism controversy because nothing—not even killing yourself with sugar while on vacation—is pure anymore.

Carmelo Anthony bricking shots to Philip Seymour Hoffman’s “Rain drop!” lines is too perfect

Carmelo Anthony has been in the news a lot during the NBA off-season thanks to a series of transactions that saw him opt-in with the Oklahoma City Thunder, get traded to the Atlanta Hawks, have his contract bought out, and finally, sign with the Houston Rockets. A lot of fuss was made over all of these moves despite the fact that Melo, in his 15th season, regressed to being a below average player, according to PER, throughout the 2017-2018 regular season. And he was even worse during his first playoff series with the Thunder.

In other words, good luck to the Rockets, specifically head coach Mike D'Antoni who is now tasked with working this aging chucker into his into a team that had the league's best record. Poor D'Antoni. One stint coaching this defense-averse ball-hog should have been enough.
Anyway, one basketball fan has created a video in anticipation of Melo's move to Houston. And it's h..

PGA Tour pro says his wife didn’t “help me much” during her caddying debut, is lucky to still be married

Kevin C. CoxC.T. Pan came agonizingly close to claiming a first PGA Tour title on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship. Tied for the lead, the 26-year-old's tee shot on the final hole wound up out-of-bounds by inches and led to a double bogey. But while he settled for his second career runner-up finish, he had to be happy leaving Greensboro having survived a different type of test: Having his wife caddie for him.
Needing a fill-in looper for the event, Pan convinced his wife, Michelle, to step in for the week. It just might take even more convincing the next time. Check out this interview Pan did with CBS' Amanda Balionis during a weather delay on Saturday. In a clip captured by Golfweek's Bill Speros, Pan says his success at the Wyndham “was a coincidence,” that “she doesn't help me much,” and, referring to a familiar caddie saying, that “she just needs to show up, keep up, and shut up, I guess.” Ouch.

You won’t believe how much someone paid for one of these hideous 1999 Ryder Cup shirts

The 1999 Ryder Cup will be forever known for two things. A thrilling, historic come-from-behind win by Team USA and those hideous shirts the Americans wore while winning.
That year's U.S. Ryder Cup captain, Ben Crenshaw, played the role of fashion designer, conceiving of a shirt with photos of past victorious American squads. Crenshaw certainly got the good mojo he was hoping for with his creation, but wow, did these shirts turn heads. And not in a good way.

The shirt's burgundy base didn't help matters as the U.S. team looked like they were wearing tablecloths from a chain restaurant. On the off chance the image of these bad boys hasn't been seared into your mind — If not, it probably means you were too young to watch the event — here's a look back at Justin Leonard making (what was eventually) the winning putt while wearing one:
